The Tragically Short Story of Violet Henry
Violet Henry was a girl of many talents. She was a genius on the piano; her poetry and lyrics were works of art; she was like Picasso when she held a paint brush; she always knew what to say to people when they felt down.
However no one knew about these things of Violet Henry, for she was that girl who used to walk around the school playground on her own, not letting anyone in. Violet Henry was a quiet girl. She liked the solitude. She would often hear the other children in the playground, and she would hear them complaining to their friends - who in turn gave no helpful advice. However Violet would always know what to say to them... if she had ever talked to anyone that was. People thought she was weird, with her raven hair contrasting with her pale skin and golden eyes... they called her names, like 'loner', 'freak' and 'emo'. This was the reason she had no friends.
However, Violet Henry's teachers knew of her special talents. Yet they never acknowledged it as they should have. They always gave her the marks she deserved in school, they always gave her a glowing report... but that was as far as it had ever gone.
She had never spoken to anyone apart from her family her whole life. Therefore no one had ever really noticed Violet Henry until it was too late.
It was when she was 14 that Violet Henry got the attention she had never wanted. There was a reason she had always kept to herself. When the group of bullies attacked her, she could do nothing but let them. She had no means of self defence. She had wondered what she had done to deserve to be treated so cruelly. She had always kept her head down an minded her own business.
After that episode, the bullies got to her every week. And every week Violet Henry had to endure the same pain.
Until she cracked.
The bullies had done it. They had managed to break Violet Henry. They had managed to get into her head. They had managed to make it so that she found it terrifying to even look outside.
It was on the eve of her 15th birthday that Violet Henry's parents found her dead on the bathroom floor, a bloody mess with a razor not far away from her right hand. There was a gash across both her wrists.
Violet Henry had killed herself. All because of those bullies who had no reason for doing what they did.
No one had attended Violet Henry's funeral. Her parents were too poor to hold a real service.
Violet Henry was a girl of many talents. It was just too bad that no one ever saw those talents.
