It's been four months since they arrived. One hundred and twenty-three days. Ninety-six of those days have been spent in this hellhole, being worked and beat incessantly. I had no idea of my limits until now, and even so I can't recognize them. I can only imagine what she's been put through, even though I don't want to.
But tonight it ends. They can't stop us. We have a fire in our hearts, which is much more than can be said for those Beasts. Tonight we run. We will be free; I can't fail her a second time. No matter what, we will have our freedom, even if it means death. I am prepared to take that risk. After all, anything is better than here.
We can do it. The highway is only a mile off, and it leads straight to San Diego. There's bound to be some shelter, there. San Diego was one of the first cities cleared out after Phoenix. There won't be anyone there to slow us down.
We'll be free.
Tonight we run.
