Mario works at the Scarlet Devil Mansion

Prologue - Unemployed

"Ring! Ring! Ring!" The sound of the alarm clock screeches as I try to wake up.

"Ugh what time is it..? I drank too much alcohol. Man, sometimes Luigi forgets that I'm not that good drinking alcohol." I said to myself as I try to cope up what happened.

As I grabbed my alarm clock, a surge of panic just went through me.

"6 AM?! I need to be quick for my job interview!" I scurried off my bed and immediately started to run all over my house, taking a bath, changing clothes, and eat a bit of bread and a cup of coffee. After I got done with the necessities, I ran off to get my job interview.

My name is Mario, but I think you already knew about it, right? I'm currently on my way to get a job because my old job as a plumber has been stripped away because the authorities saw that me and my brother's license were outdated, and forced us to pick two choices: We have to pay a good amount of money to get ourselves a new one, or we have to quit being plumbers. Since we don't gain alot of money doing plumbing, we have no choice but to give our jobs up being plumbers. My younger brother, Luigi went on to be employed on a cafe in morning and a casino at night. Although I'm a bit jealous that my younger brother got two jobs, but as his older brother, I'm really proud of him. As for me?

"Ouch! That hurt!" I yelled as trip over and slammed my head on the road.

I still don't have a job.

*Sigh* Life for me isn't very good right now, but hopefully I will get my job!

I got up from the floor and ran towards my destination, to get my job.

During in a job interview...

"W-What?! You rejected?" I yelled at the boss of the company that I'm trying to employ at.

"Yes, I did. I heard about your past jobs from other people that you didn't get to keep it for long. Our company wanted employees with good reputation, so seeing your experiences in other jobs gave me doubt of you doing good here. I'm sorry, but we have to reject you." The boss said.

I then left the building without saying a word and nothing gained whatsoever.

"Ugh, what do I do now? I won't be able to get a job at this rate..." I asked myself in anguish to the current problem.

As I walk back to my house with my head down, I hear two people gossiping about something.

"Hey, did you see that maid in the café earlier? She's so pretty!"

"I know, right? I hear other people say that she's looking for someone. Who was it?"

"Hmm... I don't know. I'm not sure who it was, but I do know it's someone important."

I stopped eavesdropping at them and went to the cafe Luigi is currently working at.
As I walk towards the cafe, I saw Luigi cleaning one of the tables.

"Hey Mario!" Luigi greeted me happily. "How was your job interview?"

"I don't wanna talk about it." I let out a sigh and explained what happened.

"Oh.. That's not good. What are you gonna do now?" Luigi said.

"I-I'm not sure, I felt like my purpose has been removed. I already tried all jobs I could find, but I couldn't stay in any one of them. Maybe I should just give up." I said. I was about to walk away, about to lose hope, but..

"Wait, Mario!"

"Huh? What is it?"

"I got this letter specifically for you. I don't know why it was you were given this letter, but here. Luigi said as he hands me a letter.

"Hmm.. Who gave you this, Luigi?' I asked.

"Um, it was a girl that wears a maid outfit and has silver hair. That's all I can remember. She gave me the letter after I started cleaning some of the tables of the café. Are you gonna read it, Mario?"

I paused for a bit, and opened the letter. The text of the letter goes like this:

"Greetings, Mario of the Mushroom Kingdom. I heard tales about you, your brother and your troubling problems you're facing. I will keep this letter straight to the point. The mistress invites you to go to her mansion. She will explain more details once you get there.
I'll be waiting at around 4 PM outside the cafe your brother is working on."

"What do you-a think, Mario? You're gonna go there?"Luigi asked.

I put some thought into it and try to remember all things that happened from before until now. This might be the only chance I get to a job..!

"Alright. I'll go to this mansion. If it means gaining a job, I'll do it."

"R-Really?!" Luigi was surprised to my answer.

"Yeah. I can't be a liably to both myself and you any longer. As a older brother, I'll have to give everything my all!"

And with that, my odd yet amusing job is about to unfold...
