-In which the witch fights the creature (no, it's fine, she's alive.)-
Maurine crouched down, desperately trying to cast a spell to banish the creature and get them to the ring of five she could sense they were getting closer to it very fast. At least Nibbles was okay, purring at Kat.
She concentrated and managed to summon a weak spell orb. It flickered, but at least it was something. Maurine's magic worked when Maurine concentrated all her energy and a sort of ball of magic appeared, a spell orb.
Then Maurine uses her finger to etch the spell into the orb. She hated doing this because A) It felt weird, B) She couldn't do any powerful spells because spell orbs were the lowest form of magic, and C.) since she was an object witch, it took way to much of her energy if she didn't have a magical item to channel the spell through. It was how she could mirror travel. Object witches were more limited with what they could do without special things, but what they could do with things was incredibly powerful. She wished she hadn't left her portable mirror at home, though. She could really use it right about now, to get people out of here.
As she etched the spell of location and dodged a flying coffee mug. She flicked her wrist and the spell orb flew through the air and then exploded in the monster's face in a burst of purple light.
Turning back to the others, she grabbed hold of Ivy's hand and shouted above the noise. "Take Kat, Dirty Dishes, and Bea, and find the other passengers! I'll get us out of here!"
The nineteen-year-old looked down on her questioningly but nodded. The four ran through the door, and Maurine was left alone.
She could feel the spell she had cast start to sink into her. She felt her senses enhanced, she could see as far as an eagle, and hear as well as a cat, and realized the only way to get to the ring of five without the creature eating them was to jump out of the train, which would kill them. Unless...
She concentrated on the monster as it advanced. blindly knocking down tables and chairs, the silverware clattering to the ground. Maurine calmed her thoughts and thought about a spell that had enough force to repel a shadow mite.
As she was thinking, she was reminded that her mentor was dead, so she would never get past potions to study further when she thought of the book... Her mentor's spellbook! That was it. She dug through her knapsack to find it, the monster still at the other end of the car
Then she saw something. An atmospheria! Maurine had heard about them. You pressed a button, and the atmospheria created a man-made atmosphere with a 10-foot radius around you, And next to it there were Parachutes!
She hadn't noticed them before, but there they were, hanging on the wall. Miraculously not destroyed, and Maurine ran for them so that they would stay that way. She turned the atmosphere on, and Just then ivy, Bea, ICB, and Kat burst back into the train car.
"We couldn't find anyone!"
Maurine dashed towards them and said, panting,
"quick, forget them, just put these on and jump out the window! We'll jump together" as she said this she grabbed a large hunk of twisted metal that had once been a chair and slammed it through the window. Thankfully, the small atmosphere around the train kept them all from immediately exploding. Ivy was looking nervous, and backed away from the window, her purple hair getting in her eyes. Maurine gestured for her to come over, but turned back around, not seeing if Ivy had come.
Kat did not seem to like the idea of jumping out of a window.
"Are you crazy!?!?!?!" Kat yelled
"Probably," Maurine replied, picking up her cat, well ICB started to drag her parachute on, and Bea was already kneeling by the broken window, poised to jump out.
"Wait for me. We have to jump together!" Maurine was feeling worried, her stomach bunching and rolling. She had begun to have a nagging feeling like she was forgetting something, but ignored it.
"I am not going to jump out of a window!" Kat yelled
"Just do it," Maurine said in an exasperated voice. "Are we ready?" she asked
"NO!!!NO!!!NO!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kat screamed and yelled as Maurine and Bea pushed her toward the broken window. The feeling she was forgetting someone increases, but she dismissed it. There had only been 4 kids, right? Oh, and Timothy, who was probably already dead. Maurine could see his hand sticking out from under a large section of the bar, drinks splattered all over it. A pang of guilt rocketed through her, but she ignored it, as nibbles let out a long meow, as though he needed something.
"One"
"STOP!! NO!!! I ORDER YOU!!!" Kat sobbed as they continued dragging her toward the window
"Two"
"Please!! No!! You can't make me!!!!!"
"Three," And together they jumped out of the window of the Night Train pulling Kat behind them, and sharing the same scream as they plummeted down toward the Ring of 5. Maurine held onto nibbles, and finally remembered what she'd forgotten.
Ivy was still on the train.
a/n This part was short so sorry, but I didn't want to post this and the last one together because of the perspective change. I probably should have I know. see ya later!
