January 23rd, 2010. My mom was driving me to school when our car was hit by a trailer. It rammed straight into the side of the car, my mom's side. I don't really remember much; I heard the ambulance and lots of screams and what only could be described as chaos. The next thing I knew, I was watching my body being operated on, then laying in the ICU for weeks. I was not alone though, I had my mom right by my side, explaining what was going on. My dad and younger brother were watching over my body, talking to the doctors. They seemed very distressed.

This went on for a year until mom suggested that we travel the world. I had just celebrated my 11th birthday and thought I was old enough to not stay around the same old town for much longer. We traveled and saw the world, saw the people. She was teaching me how the world worked and why it was important to always help people if I had the chance. We wandered around for a good while, well, I did. Mom was fading more and more, leaving me alone more and more often.

One morning I was wandering around an airport in Sidney, watching people live their lives and not even stopping to think for a second that this could be their last day on this planet. I felt lonely. After more wandering, I saw a family hugging a boy goodbye. He was about my age and he seemed to go off alone. I felt the pain in his chest and how hard he held back tears, but there was also something hopeful about him. I got onto the plane with him, there was just something about this boy that made me want to go with him.

I found out soon why. He was on his journey to South Korea, to attempt becoming an idol and his name was Chris. I also noticed just how hard he was working, even after training, he was in front of the mirror practicing, or the booth, practicing singing and rapping. He barely got any sleep and it made me feel sad. He was as lonely as I was, and I was determined to change that. The next time he went to the grocery store to buy himself some food, he found a bit of change laying by the sidewalk. I'm not saying it was my doing, but it was. He didn't have a lot of money with him anyway, so when he got himself an ice cream, it sure made my day to see that smile.

The next step was nudging him in the right direction to get some friends. I finally got a boy that was the same age as him to come earlier to his lesson, while Chris was still having his. He was struggling a lot that day and I was pretty happy that after Chris's lesson the boy stopped him and offered to help him with rapping. They soon became buddies and he introduced Chris to some of his own friends. It was going well. Then after a few years, his friends started to debut. In those 4 years, I've never seen him more broken before.
