Carry On

The lights go out at the end of the day

Dad is asleep

And mom's far away

She died in a fire one night far too soon

Now she's up in the sky with the stars and the moon

And though your family's broken

It's hurt and it's lost

For you it would pay the ultimate cost

Both father and brother are there by your side

To love you, protect you, hold your hand, be your guides

Though the road will be long and the pain will be great

And Death's at your door, he's patient, he'll wait

And though your hope has long since gone

My wayward son
