Ever since I was little, life was normal. I had a family, friends, decent grades at school. I was just an ordinary six year old kid who was care free and just wanted to play around. I was happy with how everything was. But odd things started happening.

"Y/n! C'mon, we're gonna go play tag!" One of my friends shouts running towards the park.

"Coming!" I yell following behind her. We all gather around to choose who was going to be it and thankfully it wasn't me. Everyone then started running away to not get caught by the tagger. I ran to a tree a few meters away from the park to hide for a bit but was surprised to see a boy sitting there. He had fluffy brown hair and he sat with his knees to his stomach and his head resting on top of it. I could hear muffled sniffles coming from him and figured he was crying. Feeling bad, I bend down and tap him on the shoulder.

"Hey, are you okay?" I ask with a concerned expression. He looked up and I noticed the tears that stained his face. I studied his face and it was brought to my attention that he had really beautiful eyes.

"W-who are y-you?" he stuttered with a croaky voice.

"I'm Y/n! Me and my friends were playing tag and I just saw you sitting here. I was wondering if you were okay," I reply with a comforting smile. He opened his mouth to say something but bit his lip to stop himself from doing so. Maybe he just needed some cheering up right now.

"Why don't you play tag with us?" I ask hoping he would say yes. His eyes widened but looked down right after. He stayed silent but I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I thought for a minute and smiled when I finally had an idea.

"You know, you have really pretty eyes," I compliment causing him to look at me with a huge blush on his face. I giggled as I stood up straight and extended an arm to him.

"What do you say? Wanna play tag?" He stared at my hand as I gestured him to take it. He reached out and paused but I quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him up to take him to the group. When we got there, my group of friends who were all running around turned to me when I called out to them.

"What is it Y/n?" one of the boys ask.

"Well I met this boy and I was wondering if he could play with us," I reply.

"Sure, where is he?" a girl asks. I give her a confusing look.

"He's right he-" I stopped when I realized the boy whom I was just with was gone. He had disappeared without a trace.

That wasn't the only time though. There were times when I saw him at school but I would always lose him in the crowd. It frustrated me that I could never get to him. I told my friends about it and they thought I was going insane. My parents just thought I had an imaginary friend or I was seeing hallucinations. I thought I knew what I saw but something a few months after made me rethink things.

It was the end of the day and I had forgotten my pencil case in the classroom so I went to go get it. Before I got there, I saw the brown haired boy walk in. I got excited when I realized I would finally have the chance to talk to him again. But when I walked in, he wasn't there. There was only one door so he couldn't have gotten out and there's no where he could've went out the window. Was all of this really my imagination? No, it couldn't have been. I felt the warmth of his hand that day at the park. There was no way he wasn't real.

By the time I got home, I was still disappointed and very confused. I tried to make sense of everything but I just couldn't. I started to make my way to my room but when passing my parents' room, I heard my name being said.

"Y/n needs to grow up! She's ten and still talking about that non-existent boy!" I heard my mom yell. I flinch but stay to hear their conversation.

"Honey, Y/n's just slower than other kids. She-"

"She's scaring me! Saying she's seeing someone that isn't real! That isn't normal! If she's not normal soon, I'm leaving!" My eyes widen and I bit my lip trying to hold back tears. Was she really going to leave?

"Oh come on honey. She's a kid," my dad defends.

"She's not even our kid so why should I care!" She screams.

The tears finally let out.

What?

After an hour crying in my room, I finally calmed down. I was still shocked with the news. I mean, what kid wouldn't after hearing that they're parents are their real ones. On top of that, that they don't care. Even though it was hard I decided to stop talking about the boy I kept seeing just so that my parents wouldn't leave me. I didn't have any other family than them. It was better than being all alone.

Once I stopped talking about the brown haired boy, I started to slowly forget him. After a few months he stopped appearing completely. It was enough to convince me that he was all in my imagination and wasn't real. I was finally able to move on with life normally like everyone else. Life was going great.

Until seven years later, I got a weird link from an unknown number which changed my life forever.
