CHAPTER 1
It was one of the best days of my life. I spent two hours sorting through my vast collection of designer clothes.
I checked my outfit in my mirror. I had settled for a red and black sleeveless dress with a blue denim jacket, blue wedge and one of my beautiful red studs.
I stroked my special charm bracelets with a wide smile, then I adjusted my black choker.
My long curly black hair was braided into a French twist dropped below my waist. Black was not my natural hair colour though, brown was. But I changed the colour because of my love for black.
It's not every day you see a black girl having that length of hair, my hair sometimes annoyed me too- it would take hours to brush, and even pack, but I loved it anyway. I got the trait from my mum's side. My grandma had a lengthy, shiny and curly hair.
Just as I was about finishing up, the door to my room was thrown open and my mother entered.
"Sweetie, aren't you done yet? You know you're running late," she said, checking me out for any wardrobe malfunction.
I smiled, giving her a peck on the cheeks. "I'm almost done, mom. Just two more minutes."
"Whatever, be down in two." She stepped out of the room and I rolled my eyes with my smile still intact.
I checked myself one last time in the mirror. My gaze swivelled across the room to see if there was anything I was forgetting.
My eyes came to rest on my makeup kit which I hardly ever used. Not for anything, but because I preferred looking natural. It wasn't my thing.
I grabbed my backpack from my bed, then I trudged down the stairs.
"Good morning mum and dad," I greeted, settling on the dining seat I pulled out.
"Morning darling," they replied in unison.
"You, my favourite!" I squealed as I saw the delicacies on the table. Mum prepared pancakes and hot chocolate tea for breakfast.
I proceeded to gobble up the food, and in less than seven minutes I was done.
My siblings Gwendolyn and Ethan were competing on who will finish up their breakfast first. We were all used to it.
I adjusted the strap of my backpack whilst moving towards the door, then I halted my movement when I heard a mum yell, "Jasmine, aren't you gonna let your dad drop you off to school?"
"No mum, I prefer to walk," I answered.
"Alright dear, take care," she said.
My younger siblings also wished me a nice day to which I replied with a smile.
I walked down the street, in awe with the environment around me, it was so beautiful and smelled nice. While I was admiring the place, I failed to notice a boy skating towards me with high speed.
Before I could think of moving out of the way, I was thrown to the ground.
My head hurt. I sat up with a groan, nursing my bruised elbows. Was he blind?
I rose my head and saw him standing up. He did not look hurt at all he was putting on a helmet and knee pads.
I was prepared to lash out at him when he said, "oh my God, I'm so sorry for that, it's my fault, I'm sorry."
His apology made my anger to vanish. He stretched out his arm to pull me up.
"It's okay, it's just a little bruise," I said, dusting my cloth.
He nodded and removed his helmet and I recognised the face immediately.
"David! David Sylva." He squinted his eyes at me, then burst out laughing.
"Yeah! Jasmine, nice to meet you again. Wow, you changed so much, I didn't realize it was you," he said.
"So, what are you doing around, I thought you would still be in Los Angeles?"I asked.
"Naah, I live here now, with my uncle. Since my parents went on a business trip," he answered.
"Ooh that's nice, where are you heading to?" I asked."
"School of course. It's a little far from here, Camwits Foundation High."
"Oh wow, that's my new school also, do you mind if we walk there together?" I asked.
"Do I mind? Do you even need to ask... of course I don't mind," he replied with a grin. And that was how my day began.
