1) a new life

"Finally! I arrived in Tokyo!" I let go of my suitcase and absorbed the city surroundings. At last, I finally escaped from my curse-ridden hometown a few hours away. I had been accepted as a Jujutsu student, with a full guaranteed scholarship including accomodation. Even if I were putting my life at risk, it'll be worth it.

Hmm, I'm supposed to be meeting some other students here, where could they be? As I looked across the road, I spotted some students who happened to be wearing the same navy uniform I was wearing. It must be them. There were two boys and a girl; A boy with black spiky hair and a serious look, another with pink fluffy hair with a friendly, goofy look, and a girl with short caramel hair who was dropdead gorgeous.

"GUYSSS!! ARE YOU FROM JUJUTSU TECH?" I wave over their attention. The boy with pink hair gives a large grin and waves back,

"YEAH WE ARE!! YOU MUST BE THE NEW STUDENT!!"

I safely cross the street and introduce myself to my new group of potential classmates.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Y/N L/N."

"I'm Itadori Yuuji!" He maintains his bright smile, and I noticed that he was about half a head taller than I was.

"Fushiguro Megumi." No smile, no emotion. Guess he's the cool one of the group...

"I'm Kugisaki Nobara~ you're quite pretty yourself. I'm still prettier, though", her eyes scan my body entirely, and I could feel her judging me.

"Well then," Our heads whip around to see a significantly taller man walk towards us with a cheeky grin on his face. He had the same uniform, yet wore a blindfold over his eyes which also pushed his white hair upwards. "Looks like we're all gathered. Shall we go explore Tokyo?"

I saw Nobara and Itadori's eyes alight to the thought of exploring the Japanese city. They're probably not from here, then. My heart begins to pound at the thought of exploring this new city, and as I glanced at Itadori's beaming expression, he returned the eye contact. I quickly look away. Did he just catch me staring at him?
I gave a more subtle glance at him, and his eyes were glued to the ground, a subtle blush visible on his cheeks. How cute.

After 15 minutes or so of walking, we arrive at our destination.
"Here we are!" Gojo-sensei stopped in his tracks, and my heart dropped. This wasn't the Tokyo I wanted to see, and neither did Itadori and Nobara. Megumi seemed to have expected this.

"This place is cursed! You tricked us-" I facepalm my forehead. What was I expecting? Becoming a Jujutsu sorcerer did not equal having fun 24/7. We were being trained to kill disgusting Curses for the benefit of society.

"Yuuji, Kugisaki and Y/N will be exorcising this building from the curse occupying it. Yuuji, you are not to swap with Sukuna. Got it?" Gojou-sensei then takes out a dagger-looking weapon. "Since you haven't learnt any cursed-techniques, you can use this weapon to exorcise the Curse in the meantime."

Itadori takes the blade out of the sheathe and examines it in awe. It was a pretty cool blade, if I do say so myself.

"Wait, Itadori ate a special-grade finger?? That's disgusting. No way no way no wayy-" Nobara pulls a disgusted face and backs away. Yikes

"Now then, Megumi and I will wait outside until you're done. Good luck!" He gives another playful grin and we head inside.

I reach for my belt and unlatch the chain attached to my weapon. It was the hilt of a sword, however once I applied my cursed-power, two blades emerged from both sides, forming a spear-like double-bladed katana.

"We should end this quickly and split up to search." Nobara says, which was probably a bad idea given our experience.

"Shouldn't we stick together? It'd be safer that way-" Itadori had the same thought as me, but Nobara insisted otherwise.

"What? For someone who lived a normal life a few days ago, you sure seem like you think you know a lot. Trust me, let's split up" Nobara continues up the flight of stairs as Itadori and I remain behind, and give each other a shrug.

Suddenly, a noise appears from below and I see a Curse jumping straight for us. I couldn't reach my weapon in time. I closed my eyes, expecting to be attacked, but Itadori defended me in a flash. His athletic skills were extraordinary, and despite being his first time handling a weapon, he was a natural.

"Are you okay?" He gives me a hand as I push myself off the ground.

"Thank you, and yes I'm fine. You're pretty good at this, actually" Itadori gave a shy laugh as he scratched the back of his head. Suddenly, we hear crashing and peculiar noises coming from where Nobara went.

Simultaneously, Itadori and I pace up the stairs to see if our classmate was okay.
Nobara had a hammer in her hand with a face filled with shock and fear. The Curse had nails pierced through its face,
The Curse then launched itself toward Nobara - her feet frozen in place - as Itadori's insanely fast reflexes took place and sliced it in half before any harm towards Nobara was done. I didn't expect this from a boy like Itadori. On the outside, he seemed like a plain goofball and the last person you'd suspect to be such an expertise in combat.

There was a small child who had been stuck in the building, likely now traumatized by the Curse he had to see and witness be spliced to pieces.

Shortly after, we made our way outside the building to see Gojou-sensei and Megumi waiting for us.

"Well done!" Gojou-sensei clapped his hands together. "Shall we get food now?"

"STEAK!" Itadori pulled a pose, and I joined him and exclaimed "SUSHI!" We looked at each other and exchanged a laugh together as Gojou-sensei asked Megumi what he wanted to eat, in which he continued to scroll through his phone.

I hadn't felt this amount of happiness in years.

a/n: Hello! This is my first ever story I've decided to release on Wattpad. As I'm typing this right now, I'm not even entirely sure if this would get any reads, but its alright, since writing is quite fun anyway. Jujutsu Kaisen has blown up a lot recently, and I myself am enjoying it thoroughly! Characters in anime like Itadori don't usually capture my heart this way, but seeing him hit different. (although, Gojo and Megumi also have my heart)
