Looking around the mass of high schoolers partying, Alex knows she doesn't belong here. No, she wasn't a nerd or antisocial she always had a sense of not belonging with other people in her life.
Grabbing her pendant, she starts swinging it around her neck, a nervous habit thats always calmed her and made her feel secure. It was a gift from her grandma when she was 12, she stopped seeing those things but she could still sense them just not as strong as before. she knew then that her grandma knew something but when she asked for answers she got nothing, she haven't said a word about it and so did so her grandma.
"Why are you sitting all alone?" Alex looked up to find Meredith her brother's girlfriend.
"Just not in the mood to party." she smile nervously, hoping she would go.
Not that Alex doesn't like Meredith. she adores her and don't think her idiot of a brother deserves her, but she's just on edge today.
"Your always not in the mood to party." She smiles teasingly at Alex and they we both laugh.
"Where is Adrian?, did he leave you alone again." Alex frowned, her brother is really dense sometimes about relationships.
She sighs sadly "yeah, he's talking to his fan club." Alex's face scrunches up when she hears that, Meredith laughs at her reaction.
Her brother is a senior, one year older than her. My brother was the quarterback in our school, he actually fits the role perfectly. Golden hair, green eyes and tan skinned like my mother and other siblings.
Alex is the black sheep of the family, dark brown wavy hair, unlike their golden straight hair. Short and on the curvy side, the total opposite of her mom and older sister's tall and athletic build. Pale blue eyes exactly like her grandma. She pretty much looks like her dad's side of the family, probably why my grandparents from her dad's side favoured her more.
Alex wasn't a fun of summer, probably because she's sweating buckets here. All the girls including Meredith are wearing shorts or dresses except for me.
"It's the middle of summer and you're the only idiot wearing jeans." Her subconscious added quiet rudely. Another item to add on the list of freaky weird things in Alex's life.
She need some air, it's getting too stuffy here. "I am going for a walk outside, you want to come?."
"No, I am going to look for Adrian." Her smile dropped and she got a look that I can't decipher. "Be careful Lex, it's dangerous out there."
Alex just smiles and walk away, she had a feeling that something horrible is going to happen. Stepping over a passed out girl, she finally reached the front door. Alex breathed in the fresh air, much better than the smell of alcohol and sweat.
Walking over to our backyard, only the druggies are out here. Adrian decided to have a party since it's the end of the school year, he wanted to end it with a bang. Alex kept walking straight into the woods, she knew it's dangerous going in there alone, but she cant stop It's like something is pulling her to go there.
Alex finally stopped at a clearing. Something doesn't feel right, a tingling sensation crawls up her spine. That's when Alex feels them, they're here. she shivers, four years away from them, four years of not seeing them. she knows they're here, she can feel it. Something builds up at her throat. she can't breathe, it's like her lungs stopped functioning she chokes on air, her lungs are screaming for air. Alex falls on her knees, she doesn't know what's happening. She feels like screaming, her throat is clogged up like something fighting it's way through her throat.
Alex screamed like she had never screamed before, she kept screaming until she could see stars in front of her.
Alex took a few minutes to gather herself, she was panting so hard. When she looked up from the ground, she saw them. They're everywhere, they are so ugly with their white as paper skin, their long straight hair, their black soulless eyes, their pointy ears, their tall and bony body and their creepy evil smile.
Her body shook at the sight of them, she couldn't believe what she was seeing she thought she was free of them.
Alex heart sped up, her fear was consuming her. She fell down with a thud, and was met with darkness awaiting her.
