Michael POV

Today was the day I was dreading the most.

It had been two days since the fire happened.

That meant today was Tyler's 10th birthday.

But he was dead.

Dead.

Gone.

No more.

Why the fates were so cruel? I couldn't tell you. I bet they find joy in watching the 'puny mortals' suffer.

Like one of them was all like:

"Hey yo, this dude just face planted!"

Then another one is like:

"What?? I wanna see! I wanna see!"

Then the third comes in eating chips:

"What are you guys laughing at?"

"This dude totally face planted off his skateboard!"

"What a noob right? Lol."

"Ooh ooh, make his skateboard flip on top of him! That would be so hilarious!"

"I know right? No no! Set his house on fire!"

"Kill half of his family! His face will be priceless!"

"Alright alright! I'll do all of it! Plus some scarring mental damage!"

"Ohh, you're so bad!"

"You did not!"

"Oh yes I did! I'll give him crippling depression too!"

"Give him survivors guilt! That would be so funny!"

"Burn his sister beyond repair!"

"You guys! I think we just created something more funny than Meme Central!"

Yep. That's probably what they do in their free time. I have no doubts.

I walked through the halls of the hospital, trying to find Sage's room. I knew generally what area she was in, though I hadn't visited her yet.

I knew I had made it because as I was about to walk by a door, I heard Sage's voice.

She was singing. And I could hear her choke on some words as she strummed her guitar.

I stood outside her door, listening to the sad song:

See above video, lyrics below

I can't feel anything

anymore, oh

The flames are burning my heart

I'm melting to the floor

A tingling sensation

Connecting the dots in my brain

That you're really gone

Washed away from the rain

That put out the fire

That was set by a liar

Who took away my dignity

Now I've got a fever for infinity

All I'm left with are scars,

broken trust

And a raging fire

what more does fate desire?
