"Wake up" my sister yelles to me. Kate, my older sister, is like my mom in many ways; she drives me to school, takes care of me when i'm sick, and actually lives with me. We used to be a happy family; a mom, dad an older sister, and the baby of the family. Our mom left us when Kate was twelve, I was only three at the time. The last thing I remember her saying was ' I don't need all of you pressuring me!'
My dad was later diagnosed with depression and PTSD, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. One day my sister and I got home and we saw our dad, dead, hanging from the ceiling. My sister was 18 at the time, so she became the legal gaurdian of little 9-year-old me. Seven years has passed since then with me at 16 and Kate at 25. " Destiny you better be awake! You don't want to be late for the first day of your new school!" Oh ,well, this won't be so difficult.
I curled my brown hair and let it down, next I put on my outfit for the day. It consists of a balck shirt that has a red heart made of the treble and bass clef. I also slipped on my red pleated skirt and black flats. The smell of my sisters homemade waffles led me downstairs. I sat down at the kitchen island, watching my sister sing along to the radio. " There is no upper hand, I'm giving you mine. I don't want to end up wasting your time. There's things that I could say, but hear it my way. I just wanna let you that it's all okay." " That was beautiful as usual Kate", I say as I pour syrup on my waffles." Thanks, buttercup! Now, remember that you have to walk to school today since I have a job interview." I nodded my understanding while chewing my waffles.
I quickly finished my waffles, put my plate into the sink, grabbed my bookbag, and my house keys. I stepped into the cool Autumn air. As I walked down the street, I thought to myself, " What if people automatically label me as a loser?" Soon I was lost in my thoughts; suddenly I fell to the ground. "I'm so sorry miss!", looking up I saw crystal blue eyes staring into my green eyes with concern. "Miss, are you ok?" he asked bringing me out of my thoughts. I finally answered him " Yes, I'm fine. Sorry, I wan't looking at where I was going." "Nonsense" he replied while helping me gather my books.
" Hello, my name is Lucas Aberdeen; but my friends call me King, which is short for King-of-love." he said with a wink. " My name is Destiny Williams, but my friends call me Angel." I replied softly. "Let us hope we may meet again my Angel" he spoke softly while kissing my hand. He started walking to the school's direction again.
