Aiden's face contorts in a silent snarl as he skids to a stop, using his knees and free hand as a type of braking system. He ignores the metallic scent of his own blood as the concrete skins the flesh of his palm.
In a fraction of a second, the young Hunter is on his feet again, raising his sword and staring intently at his target.
He dismisses the heat that trickles from his forehead, not yet daring to raise a hand to swipe the red from his eyes.
Aiden grins with malice and flicks the dark blood from the large blade in his iron grasp.
"You think you've won?" The voice of the demon, like most, isn't that of one voice, but of many all at ones. They speak with the voices of all of the souls they've taken.
This particular demon has a toad-like appearance, with a grotesquely long tongue that is coated in a poisonous slime with a cocky attitude.
Aiden had already wounded it, but not seriously. It was only a shoulder wound, though deep, it isn't crippling.
Aiden was walking by the abandoned parking lot on his way back from the store when he heard the little girl scream.
Aiden's smirk widens. "It isn't a matter of thinking that I will. You will be destroyed by the time the dawn breaks." He had finished playing around with his prey now, and he intends to finish what he started the moment the demon grabbed that girl.
Aiden could tell from the chalk that is scattered about that the small child had been out here playing, most likely here, because she lived within walking distance.
He scanned the area before provoking the demon, expecting her to have been with her mother, only to find that she had indeed, been here alone.
The demon lets out an enraged cry at the Hunter's disregard of it's strength, and snaps it's ugly tongue out at him.
It would teach him a lesson, show him that he is a force to be reckoned with...
The toad-demon had hardly any time to cry out in pain, before the dark blood sprays out of it's mouth from the nub of we're it's beloved tongue ones resided.
It gives a shriek of terror at the realization of what just occurred and lashes out at the Hunter with a new spark of hatred.
Aiden hops back with unnatural grace, easily dodging the demon's sharp talons.
With a short chuckle, the Hunter leaps onto the demon's moving arm, and runs up it with an astounding amount of balance.
The demon gives one last enraged cry, before Aiden's blade is up to the hilt in the side of the toads head.

I know this is short, but its just a trial chapter... I wanted to post it to see what everyone thinks.
I wanted to try something a little newer than what I usually write, so I hope I did okay... I'd love comments and votes... vote if you like Aiden!
I plan to update again soon, assuming people read!
Dedicating this chapter to my best friend, for the main character's name. She knows who she is... love you!
