Donghyuck's eyes fluttered open, his long eyelashes lifting from his cheeks and almost touching his brow. He rested the back oh his hand on his soft auburn hair as he stared at the posts the held his bed up. He decided to get up after 5 minutes of adjusting to the sunlight, he sat up gracefully and swung both his legs to the side of the bed.
The soles of his feet padded across the clean floor as he made his way across the room to where his harp stand proudly, waiting to be played as it did every morning.
Donghyuck let out a quaint yawn and ran his fingers across the strings of the instrument, informing the general area of castle that he had awoken.
Almost immediately, there was a knock on the door, he turned his head towards the door.
"Come in" his mid tone voice was friendly and slightly playful as always.
The women came in immediately and pushed in a silver tray of breakfast food. Smoked salmon and fresh bread, straight from the bakery.
Waking up this way was not uncommon to Donghyuck. He gave them a sincere smile and a polite nod before excusing them. He took small bites of the breakfast they offered to him, he always ate gingerly just like his mother had.
He set the half eaten food back down on the decorated tray and changed into a flowy white shirt and tight yellow trousers. It wasn't what he should be wearing by any means but he preferred to dress like the common people of the kingdom as to not be prude, he grew up that way after all.
He glided through the corridors of his quarter, down the stairs to the gardens. As much as he liked to admire the extravagant waterfalls and and carefully planted roses of the main gardens, it was the general public's to admire. It was to the aristocracy of the castle and the servants and the passerby's, after all, he had his mothers well to go to.Donghyuck's eyes briefly eyed each petal until it was disturbed by a small boy, perhaps 7 or 8, crying on the bench. Donghyuck frowned slightly and kneeled in front of the child. He was dressed in a white suit, sniffling.
He glanced at donghyuck and tried to stifle his sobs. The elder smiled and held out his hand, which the young boy grabbed.
"What on earth could you possibly be doing all alone... i dont think you live in the castle and visiting hours are over." Donghyuck stood up and walked with the boy.
"I got lost w-while me and my brpther were picking apples..." the young child sniffled and rubbed his eyes.
Donghyuck nodded and smiled, he knew where the kingdoms apple orchard was, in fact he ate from it often as it over branched directly over the well.
"Would you mind telling me your name..?" donghyuck spoke gently to the child waiting for his reply.
"Junhyuk Lee junhyuk, sir"
Donghyuck coo'd and petted the small child's hair. "Lets go visit the orchards,. Im sure your brother is looking."
Donghyuck continued to head tp the garden, hand intertwined with junhyuk.
they reached the small garden the Donghyuck was oh so accustomed to.
"Would you like to know a secret?" Hyuckie smiled as junhyuk nodded. "Promise not to tell..?" Junhyuk nodded again.
"We are standing by a wishing well." He smiled gently at the boy.
Junhyuk's dull face turned into a bright smile for the first time since the prince picked him up.
"How does it work?" He clung onto Donghyuck's sleeve.
"Make a wish into the well, thats all you have to do. And if you hear it echoing, your wish will soon come true." Junhyuk grinned and started to pray into the well.
"Oh goodness me! Absolutely not!" Hyuckie giggled and cleared his throat.
"Im wishing" he began to sang, expecting nothing back from the reflection, however that was not the case. He pretended not to be surprised in front of the child. He began to ponder what he should wish for.
"For the one i love.. to find me, today"
Again the well spoke back to him and he smiled brightly.Little did he know peering eyes were watching from behind the wall, from the orchards.
