Chapter Three:
J~U~N~E
* * * * * * * *

"Hey, June, why don't you invite Adeen over for dinner this afternoon." My mom suggests at breakfast. I watch out of the corner of my eyes as Dryden's hand tightens around his spoon.

"I'll ask when we go to the pond today." I confirm, my mouth full of cereal. Drew's knuckles are turning white and I'm positive he's bent the spoon.

"How come June always gets to have her friends over but I can't have mine?" Keith, my younger brother, complains. I stick my tongue out at him.

"Aw, poor Keith." Teases Finn before shoving a piece of toast in his mouth.

"Keith, you've never asked to have anyone over." My dad cuts in before anything can escalate into a fight.

"You never asked if I wanted to!" Keith retorts.

"Well then, Keith, would you like to have someone over?" Asks my mom sarcastically. Keith sighs and leans back in his chair.

"No." He admits.

"You're just trying to pick a fight." I say, ruffling his hair.

"Juniper. Leave him alone. It wasn't that long ago that you were fifteen." My mother scolds. I roll my eyes.

"Mom I haven't been fifteen for like, three years." I remind her.

"It isn't three years until Valentine's Day!" Keith states.

"Well, Valentine's Day is in two weeks, so I think I'm cool." I grin. Keith rolls his eyes, but I can see a smile hiding in his cheeks.

"We should take Keith to the falls!" Luca chuckles after a few seconds, "That way he can feel like a real man!"
My dad laughs along, receiving a glare from my mother in the process. Keith grins at the idea, his piercing creating a small dent in his lip while he does so.

"Absolutely not." My mother exclaims. I swear if flames could be shooting out of her eyes, they would be. "You will not be shoving your brother off of any cliff, water fall or not!" All of the guys groan.

"Mom, I'm sure it will be fine. I mean, Luca and Finn are stupid, but not that stupid." I tell her. Keith sends me a 'thank you' with his eyes. I wink subtly.

"I said no." My mother states again, firmly.

"Dad?" Questions Finn, raising his eyebrows as he stuffs yet another gravy-covered biscuit into his mouth.

"I'm stand by your mother. What ever she decides will be the final answer." My dad sighs, though we can all tell he wants to go just as much as the rest of us. My mom smiles triumphantly.

"Mom, I think it would be a great idea. I could invite Adeen and then we could all come back here for supper." I suggest, crossing my fingers under my chair. My mom groans.

"Fine. I kind of want to go back to the falls too." My mom admits. We all cheer and Finn ends up blowing half-chewed biscuit over everyone.

"Ugh! That is disgusting!" I shout, pulling my biscuit soaked shirt away from my body.

"Sorry..." He says sheepishly. I glare at him and stand up to go and clean myself.

"So that's a yes on the falls?" Keith asks excitedly, ignoring the fact that there is a bit of sausage gravy hanging in his bangs.

"We can leave after lunch." My mother replies, wiping the chunks off of her shirt with a napkin.

"I'm going to shower." I say, looking directly at Finn. He just grins. With a roll of my eyes, I dramatically push myself away from the table. Dryden stands without a word and follows me up the stairs to my room.
