Y/N's POV 12:46am

"Where are we going? " I hesitantly shook my hand off, feeling the effects of fear and anxiety coursing through my veins. The rationality jumped out suddenly and I could see how Anna sensed that I was worried. This time, she reached over to hold my hand more gently, putting her other palm on top and rubbing soothingly.

"Look I know this might sound crazy and it's late and we're high on caffeine. We could be best friends tonight and strangers tomorrow. It might be really cliche now but there is something about dropping that drawing and being here in this moment that just feels right. If you let me, we could be two strangers enjoying each other's company just for today." Anna spoke gently and her eyes flashed with the moonlight.

This felt surreal, like something straight out of a movie that I could not fathom. "You're crazy you know that" I told her and rolled my eyes playfully. She led me along to where her car was.

"If you're gonna kidnap me I'm telling Mia to ban you at the cafe. No funny business Anna!" I joked and nudged her shoulder.

Anna flashed a goofy smile as she set her phone in her pocket after texting someone. She shook her keys in front of my face and gestured toward her car, taking the lead and walking ahead of me. Her fingers reached to wrap around two of mine.

"Do you trust me?" She asked excitedly, the caffeine in her system was really apparent right now. If it weren't for her soft eyes and sweet disposition, I would have hesitated trusting so early. Instead, I found myself nodding and saying yes.

Music began playing on the radio and the windows were rolled down. The salty breeze rushed inside the car and it was comforting. Up ahead, I recognized the ocean horizon and the sandy shoreline. The road was empty except for a few cars.

Anna parked her car in the side of the pier. She offered her hand for me to take as we ran up to the beach breathing in the saltiness of the seawater and fog that chilled the air.

"You're so cheesy and cliche" I remarked as we ran to the waves rolling in the shoreline, splashing each other and giggling amidst the sounds of water reaching against the sand and retracting.

Anna pulled me to a dry patch, sitting down and patting a spot beside her. I pulled out a flask in my back pocket, offering the alcohol to the blonde beside me. Her eyebrows raised in curiousity and sipped several times before handing it back to me. She was weary on how much she drank. I drank much more than she did and as I urged her to drink more she declined politely, wanting to ensure she was okay to drive.

It was a silent for a few minutes. We laid down, watching the stars and enjoying the sweet disposition of the peculiar situation we were both in. Just two strangers intertwining for one night to escape reality into our own little bubble. It was comforting, we both could sense that we weren't okay in our own separate ways.

"Are you always at the cafe drawing people? I hardly see you and I'm quite a regular?" I started in order to break the silence.

"Not always. Just the pretty ones." She turned to wink at me and I shook my head in sarcasm. "I'm there a lot usually very late at night usually at 12am. I've kinda found comfort in being there alone you know"

"What are you running from that makes you stay there at 12am?" There was silence after I said this. I immediately recognized my fault, "You don't have to answer."

"It's not that I don't want to. More just that it's a complex answer and it's very intricate to explain but to put simply, it's certain people and myself. It can get a bit much" Anna drifted.

"I know what it's like." It was Anna's turn to ask me questions. It felt endearing but I knew that the alcohol in my system was gonna be the downfall of my vulnerability.
