I wiggle my toes in my new heels, they were so soft and comfortable, everything that Ruby had promised they would be. I had had a busy day, breakfast from Buttercups Bakery was delicious then of to Dahlia's for my tattoo. Her design was absolutely beautiful. I then bought myself new shoes and ticked a few businesses off my list. It had been a good day until Apollo wondered off by himself in the pet store.
Showing the bouncer my ID, I enter the last place on my list for today. Techno music, flashing lights and alcohol weren't a combination I particularly enjoyed but you never knew what you would find when you entered a place like this. Sometimes a nightclub had a distinctive vibe that set it apart from others. By arriving early I wasn't drowning in a sea of people but this was clearly a very popular place. Beyond the dance floor the ambient lighting was enough to see by, spotting the bar I started moving in that direction. Holding my purse close I carefully move past the people who have already started their night and slide onto a barstool with some free space around it. I had spent some time carefully crafting my look for tonight. I had put my hair up and an elegant a-line black dress with simple jewellery, all the relevant areas were covered just enough to be demure but hint at availability.
The bartender came over, he was quite handsome but from the subtle grope as he passed the female bartender, he was already taken.
"What can I get you?"
"I'll have a lemon, lime bitters please."
He frowned rather cutely. "Excuse me a moment please."
He ducked over to the female bartender and whispered something, she laughed and expertly made up my drink. She placed it down in front of me.
"Sorry about that, Finn had no idea what your drink was."
"That's alright," passing the money over I took a sip, it was perfectly balanced. "This is perfect."
"Thank you, are you new in town?"
"Just passing through, seeing the sights."
She was called away and I turned, sipping my drink I studied Vee, it was full of rich, warm tones and colours on a black background. The music and lighting fit within the normal expectations without being too overbearing. Placing a hand over my drink I close my eyes to reality and open them fully to the auras of the room. It is a colourful palate, the variety of supernatural species is astounding. Having grown up in an insular community it still amazed me how all these different species lived in such harmony.
"Excuse me."
Refocusing my eyes I find a young vampire standing before me, well he looked young but you can never be sure about the age of immortals. Weighing my options I decid to go with slightly clueless.
"Oh, am I in your way."
"No sweet thing," he smiles, clearly amused. "Would you dance with me?"
"I am not a very good dancer."
"I can teach you."
He holds out his hand, one dance should be fine, as I reach for his hand there is a low growl. The vampire is yanked away and thrown to the floor. A large man is suddenly standing between us. His shirt barely conceals the muscular expanse of his shoulders, and I want nothing more than to run my hands down his back. With a shrug I slip off the barstool and give into temptation. I feel him freeze momentarily as I run my hands over the firm muscles of his back and around his waist to explore the muscular terrain of his stomach.
The aroma of Old Spice wafts around me as I press myself against his back, my head nestles comfortably between his shoulder blades. His calloused hands are gentle on mine as he loosens my hold enough to turn around in my arms. The sensation of his hands caressing down my back stokes the fire simmering in my belly, looking up to see his face I freeze. It's him, the man from the park. Thrusting my hands against his firmly muscled chest I jerk out of his grasp and run. Dodging through the patrons I hear him call out for me to wait but I flee the club. It is clear from the way his I react to his presence that he is one of the fated mates the spell is drawing in but the whole sniffing thing weirds me out. Why can't he just talk to me? Nothing will ever happen between us if he keeps sniffing.
