Emanuel wakes up to the sound of a loud ringing, he thinks to himself is there a fire. He then realizes it's his alarm clock. He walks into the kitchen to make some breakfast. Something catches his eye on the way into the kitchen, a white piece of paper. His jaw drops when he sees what the paper says. EVICTION. His mom walks into the kitchen and sees his face. "It will be alright," she says as she gives him a hug. "I will find us a new home but, don't let your little siblings know". Around 30 minutes later he sees his little sister and his little brother walk out of their rooms. "Good Morning," his mom says energetically. "Good Morning," they say back tiredly. After all the kids ate and got ready Emanuel walked them to school. He gets there just in time to hear the first bell go off. After school, he gets his siblings from their classrooms and takes them home. On the way home he sees a newspaper with a bunch of available jobs on it. He stuffs it in his backpack and keeps walking. When he gets home he starts to read about the jobs. He realizes that his age will hold him back because only 2 jobs on the paper allow 14-year-olds to work. The next day after school he applies to both jobs. Then he waits for a response. He got both jobs. The first job (Mcdonald's) he can work at after school and his second job (IHOP) he can work at on the weekends. The next day as he walks down the street to the first job he sees something glistening in the snow. He picks the item up and cleans it off. It's a very nice watch that looks like it's worth a lot of money. After work, he and his mom take it to a Jeweler to sell it. Emanuel hoped it would be enough to help his mom get a new house. After inspecting it the Jeweler looks up and says "I'll give $900,000 for it, take it or leave it". Emanuel pinched himself to see if he was dreaming. Emanuel would have enough money for the house and more. They go home and tell the little kids the good news. A month later Emanuel and his family moved into their new house. "This house is huge," says Emanuel's little brother as he runs around the house. Emanuel thought back on finding the watch and realized if he wasn't so determined to make money he would have never found the watch. He learned that you should never give up because you never know when you might get Lucky.
