"Never have I ever, " I said, eating a pack of Doritos that August got at the gas station. "Dated a guy."

August's green eyes shimmered as she smirked at my question. "I have."

We both laughed.

August had graduated and was in her first year of college. She was a year older than me. Last year we would exchange glances in the hallways. We had never hooked up or anything, but we both knew we were interested in each other. I couldn't be with August anway, since I was with Betty.

"My turn," she said. "Never have I ever... had feelings for... me?"

August's eyes continued to shimmer, full of curiosity.

"I have," I admitted.

August smiled and reached for my hand.

I surprised myself by leaning in and kissing her. And in that moment, I knew I could be with August. Betty would never find out. And I would make sure of it.

August pulled away.

"Are you sure?" she whispered.

I nodded, then kissed her again.
