Parker left after a few minutes of the gangsters' bullshit remarks. Aastor thanked her on her out, which wasn't expected from any of us. We spent the rest of the night in our bedroom with our cat. It felt more like home here, despite all of the gang's noise, mocking, and annoyances. Aastor changed his clothes the second we got a moment alone. I couldn't hold it to him, he looked like absolute hell. As he showered, I tried to relax. Needless to say, it didn't work too well and I continued to stress. I ended up sitting on the floor with my back to the bed holding our cat, Bento. The room was exactly how we left it. The bed was neatly made. A few pillows laid aligned with velvet cases. The curtains hung over the bed, swaying from the newfound wind from the barely running A.C. The carpet had a few blood stains, but it was always like that. Aastor couldn't help but have a few fights in here. I untucked my dress shirt from my black jeans and took my belt off. I tried to relax with Bento purring in my lap.

"So, how'd you die this time?" I asked Aastor as he stepped out of the bathroom. "Tracked down by the others again." He stood there in just his shorts and with wet hair, which I was used to by now.
But, something was still off.
There was a new scar across his shoulder and halfway up his neck. I stood up, moving closer to him. Bento jumped from my hands, landing stealthily but nearly hitting Aastor's feet. I put my hand on his shoulder and he winced.
"Oh... their attacks always have been gruesome, but this is very unlike them." I thought aloud.
I took a second then asked, "Knife this time?" He nodded, miserably.
The Boss swore to take care of all his employees, but that didn't stop outside forces. Plus, there's nothing that he can do to help us. We are all immortal after all. Well, everyone except Parker and me. But Parker was only there to help with business and I was very active outside with the rest of them.
It's funny to think about how reckless Aastor is considering he always returns after death.
And how I'm not reckless for the same reason.

I kissed his forehead. "We should get to sleep. You need the energy to deal with Boss in the morning." I laughed, holding his face.
He scoffed, "Why'd you have to bring that up, my love?" He put his hands on mine. I chuckled again, a lot sweeter this time. He looked at my watch and asked, "Who got you this?" He studied it with a close eye. "My sister did. You remember her, right?" He nodded so I continued, "Symphony bought it for me last Christmas, but you know how we didn't show up. So, she gave it to me yesterday."
He grinned oddly cheerful, "Oh! Another mortal person I can hopefully trust!" We swayed still holding onto each other, our legs tangling. "I-I can't tell if that was sarcasm or not." I stuttered. He kissed me and I gripped his shoulder. He let go, putting my hand back in his. "Oh- sorry." I apologized immediately. His gaze met mine as he said, "It's okay. It just burns a little." He kissed me again.

I yawned, "Now, this thing called sleeping?" Aastor laughed, dropping his hands to pick up Bento. "Never heard of it! Huh, Bento?" He cradled the rag doll kitten in his lanky arms. Bento purred flipping his body around so Aastor could scratch his ears. Aastor stumbled back slightly, almost hitting the doorframe. I caught him immediately, concerned about what happened. "So. This thing you call sleep sounds more appealing now."
