Hinata fiddled with the zipper on his jacket, anxiety bubbling in the pit of his stomach as he waited by the door. His eyes glanced to his phone every second, waiting for the text of confirmation. He looked around the apartment, eyes landing on a picture he had hung up over his couch. It was a picture of him and his friend, Komaeda, sitting by the edge of a pool. Komaeda's hair was flat against his head, and his smile was sarcastic. He smiled, letting out a huff of air as he leaned back against the door. Hinata knew that their friendship was on the line, but he couldn't go another day without telling the other how he felt.
He jumped as his phone dinged, heart racing as he stared down at the message with wide eyes. A simple, two worded message that caused an avalanche of emotions.
I'm here.
Hinata turned around quickly, hand grabbing the doorknob and turning it. He opened the door, eyes meeting the top of Komaeda's head. Komaeda shot his head up quickly, eyebrows raised and a small smile on his face.
"Were you waiting for me?" He asked as he entered the apartment. Hinata rolled his eyes, a blush blooming on his face.
"Of course not, I just happened to be right by the door when you texted." Komaeda laughed, but didn't push any further than that.
The two sat down on the couch, silence surrounding the room as they stared at the floor. Hinata felt a tap on his shoulder, looking over to see Komaeda staring at him.
"What?" Hinata said, you know, like an idiot.
Komaeda frowned. "You said you had something important to say, but you wanted to say it in person. Don't tell me you forgot it already!"
'I could say I forgot. Stop right here and save our friendship from an inevitable doom..' Hinata shoved that thought aside, it wouldn't be fair to him or Komaeda.
"I do." Hinata admitted. "It's important, but I want you to promise me something."
Komaeda hesitated. "Anything, Hinata-kun."
Hinata took a deep breath, averting his eyes. "Promise me no matter what, we won't stop being friends."
Komaeda smiled, letting out a laugh as his shoulders dropped. "Is that all? Because I can definitely promise that."
Hinata nodded, looking Komaeda in the eyes. "I like you."
Komaeda froze, tilting his head. "I would assume so, yeah. I like you too."
"No- I like like you. More than a friend, Ko."
It took a minute of thinking, but Komaeda finally understood what Hinata was telling him. His eyes widened, and he couldn't stop the smile from growing on his face. "Wait- really? Like- like like? Me? Seriously?"
Hinata rolled his eyes, attempting, terribly might I add, to suppress a smile. "Yes, Komaeda. Now don't let it get to your head-"
"I like like you too." Hinata froze, eyes wide as he stared at his crush.
"You- what?"
"I like you like that as well. I never told you 'cause I always thought you liked Chiaki, considering you two are together a lot.." Komaeda took a deep breath, a goofy smile still plastered on his face. "I'm glad, really glad you told me, cause I know I would have never been able to gather enough courage to tell you."
