Cockblocked

After completing the Water Trial in Brooklet Hill, you travelled across Akala Island and arrived at Royal Avenue. However, there seemed to be a barricade that stopped you from going further. Unfortunately, they had blocked off the only way to get to Wela Volcano Park which was the place you were headed.

At the barricade there were two men with their faces covered by bandanas, and both had bright blue hair that poked out from underneath their skull-like caps. You stopped and stared at the pair who seemed to be acting quite aloof. One rested against the barricade with his arms crossed and eyes closed while the other was squatting and poking at the dirt with a stick. Not sure what to make of the pair, you stepped closer, hoping that they would let you pass.

Upon hearing your footsteps, the squatter guy's eyes drifted over to you and he suddenly jumped to his feet. Standing in some kind of gang pose, he walked over to you with his shoulders hunched and arms flailing in sporadic movements, almost like he was having a seizure.

"Uh hi! Do you mind if I come through here? I need to get to Wela Volcano." You said politely, thinking that you could sweet talk them into letting you through.

"Yo, yo, yo! That's a hell no! This place is outta bounds, so we ain't lettin' you go!" He replied, striking a new pose every ten seconds.

The other guy who had been supposedly napping trudged his way over and looked down at you with dull azure eyes. Feeling slightly intimidated now that it was two on one, your hands reached to your belt and touched your pokeballs for reassurance.

Looking past their shoulders, you peered at the empty Route 7. The path ahead was clear and the beach on the right seemed tranquil. Something was magikarpy about those two guys... (Get it? It's the pokemon equivalent of saying 'fishy' hehe)

Humming in curiosity, you narrowed your eyes and asked the pair, "Who says it's out of bounds? I don't see why there's a problem."

"Our Boss." Said the taller guy. Just like his demeanour, his voice was deep and sleepy.

Your eyebrow twitched in annoyance, "If your 'Boss' isn't here then he doesn't need to know that I passed through. I really need to get to Wela Volcano so if you don't mind-"

Pushing your way past the boys, you briskly walked over to the barricade.

"Oi stop!" You heard one of then yell and then the back of your shirt got pulled back so you couldn't breathe for a second.

"That hurts!" Slapping the blue guy's hand away from your shirt, you glared at them both.

The shorter boy stuck a pose, "Listen, how 'bout you stop doin' the trial and go back to ya home?"

Feeling like you had never been insulted that much in your life, you yelled, "Absolutely no way! I won't go home until I become the Champion!"

Both of their eyes widened, and you thought your determination had gotten through to them. That was until you turned around and saw a girl with very heavy eyeliner. She wore clothes in similar style to the other blue haired guys. The one thing in common was that they wore skull shaped necklaces around their necks.

"What are you numb nuts doing? Just knock her and her pokemon out." She barked at the two who looked at each other as if she said something profound.

Their shoulders raised and they shrugged at the same time.

While they were distracted, you bolted for the barricade. Putting one hand on the wood, you lept up and swung your legs over leaving them in your dust. You could hear them shouting in the distance, but you were already far ahead. Running along the Wela Volcano's pre-established path, you spotted a good place to hide and ducked behind an ash covered rock. The charcoal dragged down your back and created a black mark on your clothes, but you didn't mind.

That group from earlier were very strange, you'd never seen a bunch of people wearing outfits like that. They were clearly in some kind of gang and weren't legally allowed to shut off Route 7 like that. They also told you to go back home and quit the trials, so maybe they were just trying to stop people from challenging Kiawe?

Well you were on your way to the Fire Trial and nothing was going to stop you from taking on Kiawe.

Feeling like it had been long enough, you got back onto your feet and were about to continue on your way, but then someone lightly jabbed you in the back. You spun around and found a man with cotton white hair crouched on the rock you had been resting on.

"Hey." A low rumble emitted from the man's vocal chords causing your hairs to stand on end. He too had a gold skull necklace which mean that he must be with those bozos from before. The smile on his lips was turn upwards slightly in a cocky grin.

"What's with all these weirdos today?" You sighed and ran past the man, pushing him off the rock. He landed with a heavy thud and for a second you felt bad for the buy.

Then you remembered that he was part of that group who caused all the stress that you were going through now...

Hiking up the mountain, the muscles in your legs screamed as you pushed yourself to reach the top as quickly as possible. Luckily you didn't bump into any more of those people.

There was a glow of pride on your chest because you had quite literally jumped hurdles to reach this place. Man was it worth it though to reach your goal of becoming champion. You clenched your fists in excitement when you saw the Trial Site and walked up with a spring in your step. This was it, the Fire Trial.
