I woke to a good morning text from Quinton. Against my better judgment, I felt butterflies fluttering around my stomach. I couldn't possibly be interested in him already. Or could I?
We texted back and forth as I got ready for work. I left the apartment, avoiding texting him for a little while. I was worried that I was catching feelings, and I wasn't sure that I was ready for all of that.
I walked into the office, and this time, Emma and Amanda were waiting in my office for me. "How did it go?" Amanda asked.
"Did you guys hang out?" Emma added.
I sighed as I sank into my desk chair. "You two are ridiculous. I need to find something for you guys to get excited about so that you leave my life alone."
"Leave your life alone?" Emma exclaimed. "But your life is just so much fun."
"Why is my life fun? Up until literally two days ago, we all had pretty similar lives. What makes mine so much fun now?" I asked.
"Well, now you aren't tied down. You're having fun," Amanda explained.
"Oh, see, that's the problem," I complained. "Create fun in your own relationships, and leave my disaster of a love life out of it. Now, go. I have a follow-up meeting with a client that was here a few months ago. She says that it's urgent," I added, motioning for them to leave my office.

Delilah called my desk phone, letting me know that my appointment was here. "Send her in. Thank you, Delilah."
The client stood in the doorway. "How's my favorite publicist?" she asked.
"How's my favorite client?" I joked back, standing up behind my desk.
Addison crossed the room, hugging me. "It's been so long. I've been hearing so many great things about you lately."
"You've been hearing great things about me? From who?" I replied, sitting down behind my desk.
"The Sway boys and I tend to have a fairly close relationship," she explained, chuckling.
"Wait, the Bryce that you've been spending time with is a Sway boy?"
"Yes, ma'am," she answered. "It's only been a few days, but Noah, Josh, Jaden, and Quinton have a lot to say about you."
I felt my cheeks flush at the mention of Quinton's name. "That makes me a little more nervous than it should."
"Don't let it make you nervous. They all had really good things to say. Quinton especially," she teased. "How is that going, by the way?"

"Enough about me," I replied. "How is Bryce?"
"Bryce is really good," she answered. "How are you and Quinton?"
"Quinton and I are just friends," I murmured. "Now, you said that this meeting was urgent. What was so important that we had to meet?"
"I wanted to talk to you about Quinton. I would like to think that I can consider us friends, and when I heard that you and Quinton had become friends, a few things crossed my mind. First of all, are you okay? I heard that you broke up with Evan."
"I, um, yeah. Yeah. I'm fine. I broke it off. Like Emma keeps saying, the relationship was already over. I just made it official," I stated, picking at the hem of my sweater. "Was there a second of all?"
"Yeah. Are you and Quinton going to turn into anything, or is it just going to be a friendship?"
"Why?" I asked, giving myself a second to think of how to answer the question.
"Because double dates are my favorite thing, and it makes it even better when I like the other girl before the date," she answered.

I stared at her, considering my options. On the one hand, I could allow myself to get excited and spill all of my emotions to Addison, but on the other hand, I didn't want to get my hopes up for something that was likely not happening. "I don't know. We're just friends right now. I mean, I haven't even met him in person yet."
She shrugged. "I'll get Bryce to extend our reservation to four people. I'll get him to bring Quinton along, and then you don't have to worry about a weird one-on-one introduction."
"Addison, I really, really appreciate you trying to help me, but I think that I'm just going to let myself really get to know him. Enjoy your dinner. Was that all?"
"It was. Please keep in touch about it. I know that I'll hear about it from the boys, but they have a different perspective on it than girls, and I need a girl's perspective," Addison said, standing up.
"Will do," I agreed, standing up as well.

Addison left my office, and Emma sat down in the seat that she had vacated almost immediately. "She's with one of Quinton's friends. Is that what she wanted to talk about?"
"You and Amanda are like vultures," I answered.
"Should I take that as a yes?"
I sighed. "Damn you, Emma. Yes, you should take that as a yes. She wanted to ask me about Quinton because she's heard the story from Quinton, Jaden, and Josh."
The look on Emma's face showed her every emotion, and I chuckled softly. "What are you laughing about?" she asked.
"You look ridiculous. Go do your job. We'll talk later," I replied, shooing her out of my office.

My cellphone rang, and I picked it up, hoping that it was Quinton. "Isabella Davis."
"Hey, Izzie. It's Quinton."
"Hey, Q. What's up?" I asked, leaning back in my chair.
He took a deep breath, and I sensed his nervousness. "I know that we both just got out of some serious relationships."
There was a long pause, and I fought the urge to break the silence.
"I want to ask you something, and it's okay if you're not ready."
"Okay," I replied anxiously. "What do you want to ask me?"
"I would really like to take you out on a date. Would you like to go out to dinner with me tonight?" he asked.
My heart leaped into my throat. "Um, yes. Yes. I would like that."
He let out a sigh of relief. "Text me your address. I'll give you details about when I'll pick you up."
