It's a race against the clock.

Will they make it?

Their lungs burn as they pump their legs harder and harder. The faces of their loved ones flash in their mind. Memories of Happiness, love, trust, rush to the forefront of their mind as tears streak down their face, drying in the wind as their feet pound against the ground.

This is it. Everything they've ever done up until now has lead them to this last defining moment.

Their hair whips at their face as the wind pushes against them almost as if trying to stop them. Their breath comes out in harsh pants as they see their destination approach quicker than they thought possible.

How long have they been running? Minuets? Hours? They cant tell. They feel like they've been running for years.. that all they've done is run. Run away from their fears, their guilt. Now they run toward the fear, they aim to defeat it once and for all.

Is it foolish? They don't know. All they know is that they are the only ones who can finally end it, no matter the cost. No matter what they must sacrifice, this ends now.

They slide to a stop in front of the one who's taken everything from them. The one who's hurt them, hurt their family. Their mind is a raging storm cloud of fear and hatred, that is what drives them to keep pushing. To keep fighting even when it feels hopeless.

The one they fear most stares back at them. Eyes meeting, lighting flashes and the monster is reveled.

Their eyes widen and they stumble back. Its their own face staring back at them with a sick grin painted across its face.

They shake their head in disbelief. The mirror image of them steps forward with a pitying look in its eyes

"You never even realized did you?"

Its voice is almost an ethereal echo. A whisper on the breeze.

"You never realized that you were the one who tormented them all.."

Their eyes well up with unshed tears as they shake their head

"You're wrong!"

The shout echoes across the void and the creature grins

"Am I?" it asks gently

The once happy memories start to twist and turn in their mind as they slowly realize that they were never there to begin with.

They fall to their knees as the realization dawns on them

"You were never the Hero...You were the Villain darling ."
