Victoria G: What inspired you to become an actress?
Danny Brown: I was always a performer as a child. By performer I mean performing songs for my family and doing little fashion shows in our living room. It was freshman year of high school the first time I auditioned for a musical, I made it into the ensemble of "Kiss Me Kate". I fell in love with being on stage and I never looked back. My love for theater flourished into a love for film and tv acting in my early/mid 20s.
VG: Who are your acting inspirations?
DB: Viola Davis, Cate Blanchett
VG: What is your favorite thing about acting?
DB: There are so many things that are my favorite! The adrenaline rush you get the second before the director says "action!". Connecting with people from all over the world through a character that you brought to life.
VG: What was your first acting job?
DB: Out of college where I got a BFA in Acting my first acting job was with a children's theater company called Chamber Repertory Theatre. They're based in Boston. We traveled all over the country performing a play called "Eureka" at different theaters and schools.
VG: What is your favorite project you have ever done?
DB: My first feature film called "West and the Ruthless". We shot it at Old Tuscon Movies Studios in Tuscon, Arizona. The whole experience from top to bottom was amazing.
VG: What are some qualities you look for in a project?
DB: A character with depth and complexity from a writer with an important and intriguing story to tell.
VG: Which character that you have played so far has been the most similar to you?
DB: I'd say the character from "West and the Ruthless". She was a biracial woman trying to find her place in the world. I felt so much connection to it that the audition monologue I received I memorized within 5 minutes, no joke haha
VG: How would you describe yourself in three words?
DB: Straightforward, quirky, loyal
VG: What are your social media handles?
DB: I have an Instagram but I never use it, I'm not a big social media person: @DannyvBrown
VG: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
DB: A stable, versatile acting career. Most likely living back in New York City with lots of pets.
VG: What are three qualities every actor should have?
DB: Drive, Humility, Sense of Humor.
VG: Do you have any advice for an aspiring actor?
DB: Keep going! You're going to get a lot of rejection but you learn to live with it. There are a lot of people who will lose interest or drive in acting because of the rejection but if you keep pushing you'll make it. Believe in yourself, you got this.
VG: What's next for you?
DB: Everything!!!
VG: RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS MAC or PC
DB: P.C.
VG: Romantic movies or Scary movies
DB: Romantic
VG: Chocolate or Vanilla
