Hey guys!! Here is another fic because I'm obsessed with these two, and yes I know what happens. There will be severe spoilers for season 3 of "The Good Doctor" so beware. This doesn't follow the shows story, because I said so. Hope you enjoy.

(NEIL'S POV)

I didn't die, Dr. Lim figured out some special surgery for me and I survived. Which I'm so fricking thankful for that, because I did not want to die right after finding out that Claire loved me back. That felt so good to think.

Shortly after I recovered we got together, we let Lim know and she was okay with it, as long as it didn't affect our work relationship, which we figured we could do, and we have. We've been going good for 5 months, and at work we kept it strictly professional. 

Then her ex came back, looking for her. 

Jared...

I never hated him before, but now I hate that son of a bitch more than anything. Sure he hadn't flat out said anything to her but I see the way he looks at her, and man is she oblivious. Then one day Jared, Claire and I were at a bar and he decided to flat out say something.

"Hey Claire, I know we used to be something but I left, so I wanted to know if you wanted to get back together because I still love you" he said ever so calmly.

My eyes wide and started twiching. I mean sure I knew what he felt, but I didn't know he loves her, that's my job. I hated to admit it but I felt jealous, because I love and I fought to damn hard to keep her, and Jared thinks he can waltz right back in and take her. I swear we will fight into hell if that's what it takes. I subconsciuosly start to rub the cross Claire gave me back in the hospital, then I look at Claire.

Claire just stills, and looks at him very quizzically. "Really," she says " I thought you knew this, but I guess not, but me and Neil are dating, and have been for 5 months." She says kinda apolegetically.

His face was priceless. It was total shock, and anger, and confusion. I just gave myself a cocky grin and took a sip of my whiskey.

"Oh, I get it I'll just leave, see you Claire. And if he ever hurts you, which I bet he will, my offer always stands," he said with an accompanied wink at Claire, and a death glare at me.

She turns to look at me and I give her a reassuring smile and say almost in a whisper "I'll never hurt you Claire." 

"I know, and I'll never hurt you," she says in her normal sweet tone. I just give her a smile and we hug, like we always do.

And this time I realized there is no reason to be jealous. Claire loves me, and I love her, more than anything on Earth.
