Tina's Pov:
"Oh my god.. I'm so sorry." Karolina said to me with a solemn expression on her face. "But why wouldn't Nico tell me something like this?" "Maybe she just couldn't handle it," Alex said in response, even though the question had been directed towards me. "I mean if I were her, I wouldn't be able to talk about something like that. She lost her dad. Maybe she just needs some time." I looked at Alex's saddened face and nodded. "Time heals everything." I saw tiny smiles form on everyone's faces. But the smile that really resonated with me was Karolina's. It was like I had given her some kind of hope. Hope that the girl she loved would heal eventually. That had been my main goal. I told those kids the story because I wanted them all to know that despite Nico seeming like she'd never overcome the problems she's faced in the past, there's still hope that she can and will do it eventually. As for the story I told at the beginning, I said it not only to give the other kids hope, but to show them that secrets aren't always necessary. And I knew that it would've been hard for Nico to tell them, so I did it myself. Yes, it was hard, but I did it for my family. Because I care about them, just like these kids seem to care for each other.
