The Battle of Two Bridges

(3rd Person POV)

The screen brightens, showing a familiar bridge, a cloudy sky covering the land as cars drove by. "Maybe you should stay in bed, Arcadia. Looks like this storm may stick with us for a while. If you're looking to stay dry, the local high school is performing Romeo and Juliet tonight.", the man on the radio says.

In the hospital Jim was sitting up in his hospital bed, Toby leaning forward, as they look at the phone and listen to it's message. "Master Jim, you must listen to me very carefully. They've captured both Princess Kitana and myself, and want you to come to the Bridge, alone.", Blinky says.

"Don't come! It's a trap!", Kitana's voice calls out. "Give me that! It appears things have grown awkward, Mr. Lake. Meet me in the alley beside the theater if you ever want to see your friend and the princess again.", Strickler's voice says.

"Don't open the bridge!", Kitana's voice calls out, somehow managing to sound both stern and frightened. "Under no circumstan-", Blinky starts to agree, before the message cut off, meaning that Strickler had hung up the phone.

"I've listened to it a hundred times and I still don't know what to do.", Jim says, his expression lost, as he tries to think of what to do. "You don't have to do this alone. You've got Aaarrrgghh, Draal, me.", Toby says to his best friend, putting his hand on his chest for emphasis.

"They said I had to be alone. *Toby's face drops from shock* If I'm not, what do you think they'll do to Blinky and Kitana?", Jim says to his best friend. "Kitana and Blinky made it clear, no circumstances.", Toby puts in.

"Enough! Friends have gotten hurt because of me. No more.", Jim replies, not wanting anyone else to get hurt because of him. "Well, it's your call. You're the Trollhunter.", Toby says.

He then pulled the real amulet out of his pocket, handing it to Jim. "Here. I picked it up in the woods after they dragged you away.", Toby continues.

The amulet pulsed in its owner's hand. "I thought since we found it together, we'd always be in this together.", Toby says.

They both looked at each other in silence, until Barbara walked in. "Hello, Toby.", Barbara greets.

Jim quickly hid the amulet behind his back. "Hey, Dr. Lake. I was just leaving. He's all yours.", Toby says, as he gestured to Jim, before hopping out.

"Can you believe it? Coyotes!", Toby continues. Barbara gently slid the curtain shut, cutting him off.

"You have good friends.", Barbara started, while sitting down near his bed. "One even stayed by your side all night.", Barbara continues.

"*chuckles* Yeah, there's really no one like Toby.", Jim says. "Actually, it was a girl. She said her name was Claire.", Barbara tells him.

Jim gasped in surprise, his eyes widening in surprise. "I want you to talk to me and I expect to hear the truth. What were you and your friend, Kitana, doing in the woods?", Barbara asked.

"Well, Claire thought she heard her brother crying in the woods, so we went in, but it was this pack of crazy coyotes and-", Jim replies. He tried to lie, but his mom cuts him off.

"The truth, Jim.", Barbara says, sternly. She then grabbed his wrist, holding it up for emphasis.

"Those scratches weren't from coyotes.", Barbara continues. "I swear! You can ask Claire or Kitana.", Jim says.
