"How are you feeling?" Danny asked, rubbing my back.
"I feel like I'm dying," I groaned into the pillow. Just because I'm a superhero doesn't mean that periods give me mercy. Instead, they try to murder me instead.
"Well, it would hurt less if you didn't go ape shit on Swift yesterday." Danny scolded.
"Niall,"
"What?"
"His name, his name is Niall." I mumbled as another cramp surged through my abdomen, and the after affects of my breakdown on the bridge made me even weaker. Lets just hope some villain doesn't stop in town during the next four days, cause I'd likely lose the fight.
"What ever, did you give him your files last night?" I nodded, too tired to answer.
"You should have seen the look on his face yesterday. From your eyes to his unsuccessful punch, you could tell they don't have people like us across the pond." Danny laughed at the memory.
"Danny, be careful. Just because you're invincible to his super strength doesn't mean you're invincible to his regular strength."
"Just go to sleep,"
-
"What are you doing right now?" Danny asked through the phone.
It's been a week since I've last seen Niall. I stayed home, fighting the urge to save someone's life, while Niall and his friends did it instead.
"Nothing," I lied. I was zipping up my suit with my power, because the zipper was in an unreachable spot.
"I'll see you when I get back in town in a few days,"
"Alright, bye." I hung up quickly, eager to get into action.
I hopped around as I tried to pull on my left boot. After successfully wasting five minutes in trying to get my feet into those shoes, I was finally ready.
The sun has set long ago, and the night has gone into full swing. Parties have just kicked into life. I could smell the alcohol from across the street, the thoughts of its victims completely scattered.
I set out walking along window sills, scaring the few who were lucky enough to see me. It wasn't long before I found myself on the fire escape in front of Niall's window. I still remember the night I left him here with my files.
Niall, I thought to him.
"Did ya hear that?" Niall asked as I heard him jump up from the couch.
I lifted the window with ease and slipped into his bedroom, careful not to make a sound. I silently traveled through the house until I came upon the living room.
"Don't tell me you didn't hear that!" Niall urged on.
"Hear what?" I asked, walking through the living room and behind the breakfast bar.
All five boys stared at me with wide eyes. I guess they really don't have people like us in London.
"See Liam! I told you she came!" Niall jumped up, dancing in excitement. I went into the freezer grabbing the ice cream I had left here last week, and took a spoon from the drawer. When I opened it, I realized that someone had eaten some of it.
"Alright, which one of you fuckers ate my ice cream?" I growled.
"Where were you for the last week or so? I was worried." Niall came closer and took my hands in his.
"I was sick,"
"Why didn't you tell me? I could've brought you some soup."
"Because you're not my boyfriend," I told him. I saw a flash of hurt in his eyes, and regretted my words.
"Yeah, right. "
"The files?" I asked.
"I'm sorry about everything." He placed a hand on my shoulder, but I shrugged it off.
"I'm fine," I reassured him. I knew he was hurt at the fact that I didn't trust him enough to to tell him how I really felt, but it was for the best of us.
He handed me the Manila folder I had left in his possession a week ago. It's held my secrets, family secrets. There's years of pain and betrayal, something I tried to hide from everyone, even myself. As it laid on the table, haunting me, I knew that no one else must see this.
I reached out for it with a shaky hand, but I couldn't take it. I just couldn't.
"Keep it. Please, just for little longer." Niall took the file and stuck it in a random kitchen drawer.
"You can take off your mask, I've already seen you without." His calloused fingers danced along the soft skin, leaving a fire in their wake as he lifted the mask from my face.
"Those same brown eyes," My eyelashes fluttered as Niall leaned closer. His warm breath fanned over my face, our lips brushing momentarily.
I jumped back quickly, my heart pounding.
"Did you not want to-" Niall started.
"I have to go,"
"I'm sorry, I should've asked but please don't go!"
"Bye Niall,"
