It was September 1st when they met for the first time. It was 9:43 in the morning, so it wasn't that busy around the area. He had just gone to the cafe to get coffee before he had to go to his dreaded internship. It wasn't that he hated the place he had to intern at, it was... that he hated the place where he had to intern at- you know what, that's not the point here. He had finally made it to his destination, so he walked inside. It was the same old routine that he went through; wake up, go to the cafe, go to his internship, then return back home. Nothing interesting ever happened. Same old, same old for him. But one day, he met somebody. The person was pretty short, though most people seemed short to him. He had dark green, almost black hair with a few freckles, but the one thing he couldn't distinguish about this person was their eye color. He couldn't tell if it was green, or black, or grey, all he could tell was that his eyes were dark. The boy was the complete opposite of him. He had blonde hair and bright yellow eyes, and was considered relatively tall. He didn't expect another intern to be accepted at that time, so he was exceptionally perplexed on why he was talking to the receptionist he usually talked to. After a while, their conversation ended, and Yamaguchi headed up to his room.
"Tsukishima-kun?" The receptionist asked. "Oh, yes?" He said in return. He had been an intern at the hospital, not because he wanted to be, but because his parents thought that it would be good for his record. "Is it okay if we gave you a different patient to look after?" The receptionist said. "Tenshi-san was released last night, and he wanted to tell you thank you."
"Okay, just give me the information about their name and room number." He said. He had grown fond of Tenshi, but of course, he had to leave eventually. Tenshi gave him a lot of great advice, and was like a father to him. "Their name is Yamaguchi Tadashi in room 440." The receptionist said, giving Tsukishima a clipboard. "Oh! And just a heads up about him, I think that you will like him." the receptionist said, smiling brightly at Tsukishima, "He's very kind, and he's a great listener. You'll like him a lot." At this point, Tsukki was very curious about the mystery boy, and he was practically holding back a smile. Tsukishima walked up to room 440 and knocked on the door. "Come in!" The person said in a cheerful voice. To Tsukishima's surprise, the boy was very cheerful and bubbly. "Here, I'll get you a chair." he said, smiling. "C'mon, sit! My name is Yamaguchi Tadashi, but I'm sure that you already know that." He said, happily. "I'm guessing that you are going to be my caretaker for a while, correct?"
"Ya. Ya, I guess I am." Tsukishima said, trying not to notice the little cuts that Yamaguchi had on his arms. "Sooooooo... aren't you going to tell me your name?" Yamaguchi said playfully. Tsukishima sighed as he said, "Tsukishima. My name is Tsukishima Kei."
"Ooooooooooooo~ can I call you Tsukki?" Yamaguchi said. "Well..." He looked at Yamaguchi who was still smiling brightly at him. "Sure, I guess."
"Really?!!! Okay!" Yamaguchi said excitedly, "Since we are friends now, and I gave you a nickname, do you wanna give me a nickname?"
"Well, I-" Tsukishima stared blankly at Yamaguchi. "I'll think about it."
"Aight." Yamaguchi said, still smiling. Tsukishima wondered why a guy like Yamaguchi was in the hospital. He seemed like a nice, happy, fun guy. At least, he seemed. Wait. "Yamaguchi?" He asked. "How old are you?"
"Hmmm? Oh, I'm 17." He said. "I turn 18 on November 10, why?" Tsukishima couldn't comprehend an answer for why he asked Yamaguchi that question, so he just rubbed it off and said, "Nothing". Tsukishima had never been interested in anybody, let alone some random guy that he just met. "Anyways," Yamaguchi said happily, "do you know any good cafes or restaurants around the area? I wanna go get something to eat."
"Are you allowed to get outside of the hospital?"Tsukishima asked. "Mhm, Just as long as I tell the receptionist." Yamaguchi said, still beaming. "Well, then, I know a good place. Let's get you ready so that we can go." Tsukishima said, trying really hard not to smile. Tsukishima had never taken a friend out to eat, so he was really nervous-wait, Tsukishima considering somebody as his friend? SOMEBODY CALL THE COPS, THE WORLD IS ENDING-nonetheless, Yamaguchi got ready with the help of Tsukishima, and they were off to get food. 11:00 a.m.
