Chapter 3

His highness Taehyung had been acting a tad bit weird lately – not like the lady servants personally assigned to him would openly gossip about that but all of them noticed – even Taehyung's private tutor, honorable scholar Namjoon – his cousin, Seokjin's husband.

It had been four months since the Kite Festival transpired. Everybody were still tired but they had to prepare for another grand banquet – for Kim Taehyung's formal appointment as the successor and the official introduction of his knight rigorously selected from the Jeon household – a highly respected family of faithfulness, valor and integrity.

It would be a massive celebration, grander than any other festival they organized. However, the guests are limited to only close families from both sides to witness the historical, divine event. It is to honor the sacred blood pact of their ancestors.

The servants are rushing to and fro – attending to the nobles and preparing for the much-anticipated event.

Not long after the kite festival and their destined meeting, Namjoon discussed with Taehyung the process of appointment and his duties and responsibilities as the Kim successor. Knowledge wise, he's ready for the big event – what's left now is to rehearse the important gestures and etiquettes which he currently studies under the strict guidance and mentoring of his mother.

However, Taehyung is much more interested with the fact that his knight would be selected from the Jeon household only. It must be fate doing its work because Jeongguk's older brother married at a young age, thus, the younger Jeon was the one fit and designated for the position.

On the other hand, Jeongguk learned about it much sooner from his father. After which, he began his training in the Kim household as soon as he can.

As promised, they wrote letters to each other as much as they can. It dwindled when Jeongguk entered the palace because they can see each other every day. Since then, Taehyung had been acting a bit strange such as his sleeping quarters always void of his presence.

"Your majesty?" Namjoon called, grabbing Taehyung's attention. The young tigress heir was staring pensively at the hourglass propped on top of his study desk – the ink of his brush staining the pristine-white canvas.

Taehyung blinked and faced his teacher, a sheepish smile carved on his face. "I-I'm sorry, hyung..." he mumbled, turning his gaze away bashfully and returned to his calligraphy.

He had been composing a lot of romantic poems lately using the proper Chinese characters which Namjoon taught him not too long ago.

His teacher noticed how his student was blooming beautifully for the past few months. There's a soft rose hue adorning his apple cheeks, purple cat eyes sparkling brighter than the stars and his ivory smooth skin glowing even under the dim light provided by the small window.

"Do you wish to take a quick break?" Namjoon queried softly, voice full of understanding. Taehyung nodded and expressed his gratitude towards his kind teacher.
