"Have a nice day ladies! Come back soon!" My lips formed into a small smirk.
The bell above the door chimed, signaling the two giddy college girls had left the plant shop.
"Mikey stop flirting with the customers and help me out back here!" Angel's voice projected from the back room.
"Coming!" I called out after her.
Quickly stepping around the clerk counter, I jogged to the front door of the shop. I reached for the deadbolt above the doorknob, turning and locking it. The sun was pouring in through the stained glass window on the door, illuminating the shop's flowers in its colorful light. A small groan escaped my lips. My wings ached to be let out of my hidden human form. I longed to stretch them, and to feel the sun on my feathers. Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I grabbed the hanging sign on the window next to the entrance and turned it around to show that the shop was closed.
Running a hand through my thick waves, I walked into the back room of the shop. "What's the trouble?"
"Help me pick which film for movie night? I can't decide between Lion King or Hercules," Angel frowned. I admired her even in distress. She sat on the blanketed floor. Her brows knit together in confusion, looking back and forth between the two discs in her hands.
Angel is my human. The one I was sent here to protect. Every guardian angel has one. This curly-headed beauty was mine. Of course, she doesn't know that, and never will. Gods' rules. I internally rolled my eyes at the thought.
Angel's short skirt had ridden up on her thighs, and I was focused on trying not to stare at the soft olive skin underneath.
"Do we have to watch another Disney movie? We've seen those both a thousand times," I chuckled.
"But they're my favorites," she said, setting the discs down gently. "Then what do you recommend? Please Mikey, nothing with puppets this time," She huffed.
"How about Annabelle?"
"I said nothing with puppets!"
"Annabelle isn't a puppet," I smirked, "she's a doll."
My senses picked up footsteps approaching from the hall. I felt my wings threaten to tear from my skin and make their appearance, a defense mechanism in order to protect my human. I held them back.
A silky feminine voice came from the doorway. "Has anyone ever told you two that you fight like an old married couple?"
"Adeena! You're here!" Angel smiled sweetly, "now we can begin our movie night!"
"When did she get a key?" I huffed, slightly annoyed that she interrupted me and Angel.
Adeena entered the room, her long butterfly locs swaying with each step. "Actually, I was thinking we could skip movie night and go out instead," she smiled coyly.
"But," Angel paused, picking up one of the discs and gently waving it, "what about Hercules?"
My feet crossed the room to where Adeena was standing near the doorway. Anything would be better than rewatching one of those dumb Disney movies again.
"To hell with Hercules, I like Adeena's idea," my muscular arm leaned on her shoulder, "For once," I added smugly.
Adeena rolled her eyes and brushed me off her shoulder. I chuckled at the distasteful look she threw in my direction. She walked further into the room, ignoring my latter comment.
"C'mon girl, we always have movie nights. Let's go out for a change." Her voice pleaded in Angel's direction.
"Movies nights are tradition," Angel paused, looking between the two of us, "But I guess skipping one wouldn't be so bad."
"Yes!" Adeena cheered.
"Hell yeah!"

I felt my ears tinge pink just looking at her. I averted my eyes as Angel pulled her short dress down once more over her bare legs. It kept riding up on her thighs as she walked towards me, trying to keep pace with Adeena.
Angel was a vision in her dress. Well, it might actually be Adeena's dress. I don't recall ever seeing anything so short snd tight in Angel's wardrobe. Nonetheless, it hugged her curves in a way that could make even the gods fall to their knees at the sight. Her long, dark curls spilled over her shoulder and down her back. A gold barrette held a few strands back to reveal her beautiful face.
"Adeena slow down," I heard Angel's soft voice plead as they both rushed towards me.
Angel tried to keep balance in her heels, stepping over rocks and tree roots.
Adeena supressed a laugh, "You need to keep up,"
Once the girls finally reached where I was standing at the door, I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Yea, it's not like I've been waiting over an hour or anything." Sarcasm dripped from my voice, as I tried to mask my loud heartbeat. I had never seen Angel in such revealing clothes.
"Next time I'm picking a normal club. I can't believe we had to walk a mile from the road just to find this place." Adeena rolled her eyes, crossing her own arms defensively
"Yeah, when you said 'let's go out' I thought you meant to a movie theater," I deadpanned.
"Adeena what is this place?" Angel interrupted our bickering.
"The Hideout. Underage teens come here to drink, party, fight, and basically do illegal shit." I laughed humorlessly.
I didn't include the fact that the supernatural also like to hang out here.
I watched the girls look questioningly at the makeshift sign above the entrance.
Adeena rolled her eyes. "It's a club just like any other. Just pull the stick out of your ass and have fun," she spoke in my direction.
I can already tell this isn't going to end well.
