Bounce, bounce, hit, bounce, swish
"Your out" Sophie says in a rude tone while catching the ball.
Lexi, Mia, and Chloe all head over to the game of handball to watch.
Lexi, Mia, and Chloe have been best friends since they were 7. They all met in 1st grade and have been inceperable since then. Now they are in the beginning 7th grade and always help each other out with homework, clothes, and maybe sometimes make-up. But heres the problem, Lexi is moving away next January and all three of them don't know what there going to do if they can't all be together. Its not even a joke when they say the longest they have gone without seeing each other was three days for the past six years. This was going to be a big change for them.
"Look its Sophie showing off her skills with handball" Mia says with attitude.
"She is not even that good, she just makes up rules as she going" Chloe says.
"She has been in this whole recess, who wants to beat her in this game?" Lexi says as she looks at her two best friends.
"Not me" Chloe says quickly. "Mia, you should do it, your so good at it"
"But if I do it you know I'm gonna lose by the way she plays this game" Mia says.
"Why not give it a try" Lexi says while pushing Mia to the handball court.
Mia turns to Lexi and gives her the looking knowing that she is going to give them payback.
Did Mia look scared? No. Did she feel terrified inside her. Yes. Mia and Sophie have always have had bad blood with each other. Lexi and Chloe don't know this but Mia is so scared of Sophie because she a has been mean to her for years. She dosen't tell her friends because she knows how her friends would make it a big deal and would tell Sophie not to say anything mean to her, and then that would make her look like a baby for not dealing with her own problems. I mean she was the youngest in her grade.
The line went by quick, when she was next her heart was racing, and felt like she was going to pass out.
"Mia, Mia, Mia" Sophie yells
"Oh sorry" Mia says quickly.
"You better be" Sophie says under her breath but Mia can still hear what she says.
Sophie bounces the ball down to the ground for it to hit the wall and the its bounces on the ground and then to Mia. Mia hits it as hard as she can and it bounces down and on to the wall and to back to the ground just like Sophie's did. After doing the same thing for a couple of seconeds, Sophie does a underdog, right when Mia runs over to it and dose another underdog. Sophie wasn't expecting that and then runs over to try to keep herself in the game, but it too late.
"You can't do that" Sophie says to Mia picking up the ball.
"You did that when I played and that wasn't an out" one kid says in the line to play handball.
"Well now its a rule" Sophie says to everyone like she owns the place.
"You can't just do that" Mia says.
Mia couldn't believe she was sticking up for herself. She felt very proud.
"Oh wow you speak up now I see" Sophie says, "Yay your now growing up, never thought this day coming"
Mia wanted to say something back but she couldn't. She had no idea what to say.
(bell rings)
"Oh wow thanks for wasting my time for someone that is still growing up" Sophie says sarcastically as she throws the ball behind her for Mia to catch as she did.
Lexi and Chloe walk up to Mia.
"I'm sorry about what just happened" Chloe says.
"No its fine its just Sophie being Sophie" Mia says to them.
Mia puts down the ball and they all head to their next class. Mia kept on thinking about what Sophie said. Still growing up. Even though no one tattle tales on her, she still acts like a baby? Mia didn't like the idea of that.
