birthday party

Blue dress means blue eyeshadow. There can't be a change in ideas now, Sandra. We are already late and if we don't finish in half an hour they'll leave. Maybe if the eyeshadow gradients into green, then it would match the dress right? Or we could wear the other dress we bought last month. No, no we can't change it again. Look at the pile of clothes on the floor. There's another- ugh I forgot my neck.

There was a pile of clothes on the floor that was incoherently folded; I'll get to it later. The dresser was organized with the creams to one side, eye makeup to the front and lip make up to the side leaning on a purse. It had been neatly organized just as it should be. Peter will be here in another twenty minutes to pick me up and I need to be done.

Tomorrow is Mark's birthday and we're celebrating at the nicest place ever: Esquire. They have two floors balcony overlooking the floor. Bella changed everything from the plan, but this was the only thing I wouldn't allow changing. No way in hell. Bella can get her hands away from us; her idea of luxury is traveling to a wild wood and camping: eW. But Bella is Mark's good friend and 'knows him best'. The main point is I don't like her and wished we didn't have to interact with her.

Done with the makeup and the only thing remaining is hair. There was still five minutes left. Maybe cleaning the room would be productive while waiting for the straightener to heat up.

When Bella comes up, I lose all train of thought and can not talk about anything else. She became friends with us when she moved to Rockville a year ago. We were all fresh out of college and getting jobs. Peter got into an apprenticeship with a law firm, and I followed after my father with our business. Mark wanted to be an accountant so he took a gap year. We were also friends with Anna and Clara but they moved states and we haven't spoken much. Going from five to three was hard and that's why we were chummy with Bella. She had recently moved in and my dad, for some wild reason adored her. Said something like, exposure to different kinds of people, kind naive family; it is horseshit and he probably just wants something from them.

Mark really adored her, and took her out. But her thick head thought he was being friendly. Peter spoke some sense into Mark and told him to wait it out. Mark had just gotten out of a relationship and it would've been shady. And so for a year, the four of us hung out.

It's going to the same tonight too.

Peter probably reached because he was calling my phone.

"Where are you?"

"Just done."

"Done what?"

"Getting ready, duh."

"What are you talking about?"

"What do you mean? It's Mark's birthday!"

"Mark? Who- I just... Why the hell haven't you been going for therapy? They called me. Can you please take this seriously."

What is he talking about? What is he talking about. What is he talking about. What is he talking about. What is he talking about!

"What!"

"Are you even listening to me?!"  What is he talking about.
