HISTORY I:
UNTOLD STORY OF
WORLD WAR II

(The town of Maasin)

Year 1942 when the world war II happened and that time, my lola was seventeen years old and the war was ended year 1945 and she was already twenty that time. Probably, that year is the most traumatic year of all Maasinhon, Japanese soldiers came along and  this Japanese soldiers who was assigned here in the town of Maasin has the most barbarous manner.

The main base of the Japanese soldiers was somewhere in Padre Burgos and Baybay. And in Padre Burgos, the circumtances their became slaughterous, people from Padre Burgos fought the Japanese soldiers and the Japanese soldiers was get mad by the action of the people in that area, so they did is, they will pick-up every children saw and they throw it in the air and they will stick them using their sword that is attached in their gun. Just like here in Maasin, when you saw them in the road but you didn’t bow in front on them you will be punished or you will be killed, that’s the life of all Maasinhon when still the Japanese soldiers role  the town of Maasin.

Because of the power that the Japanese soldiers shown towards to the people of Maasin, some people choose to hide themselves and one of them is my Lola and his parents. They leave their house in Rizal and trace the path drift to the near mountain. Up above the mountain, small cave situated, they made it as a shelter as the war still on going. Along with them is the Batino Family and other families that are living in Rizal, they stay and hide themselves their and they will just return in the lowland when they will get some foods and water, the life in that time is not easy. Loud bang of a gun shoot you will hear everytime the Japanese soldiers have got Maasinhon shoot.

No enough food supplies and water, and only the lamp that is made of glass and wire, cut pieces of fabric that placed inside the lamp together with the gasoline, it stand to them as a light in the dark small cave. They can’t go out or go in the town or even in their houses in the lowland because they scared being caught by the Japanese soldiers, even if Japanese soldiers will not come  in the high areas in Maasin.

Popoy Tonio the father of cha' Bining, the late Punso, husband of late Bibing and Akyo from the Montanio Family helped them throughout the war – they are filipino soldiers. One by one they snipe some Japanese soldiers, and with the helped too of the people in the town the Japanese soldiers didn’t get a chance to caught the three soldiers. If the Japanese soldiers know the assassination, automatically, the people from the town will mislead the Japanese soldiers reason why they didn’t get a chance to go in Rizal or other area where the three soldiers located and in addition, Japanese soldiers are afraid to go in the highlands because there’s a chance that they will be ambush with the filipino rebel, that’s the reason too why they stayed in the town.
The suffering of all Maasinhon is ended when American soldiers came, they positioned their battleship in front of the town of Maasin even if their ship is far from the town of Maasin, still the bomb reach the some areas in Maasin.  They bomb the Japanese soldiers who stay in Maasin. But before they bomb the town of Maasin, they first bomb the area where the main quarter of the Japanese soldiers located which is in the area of Padre Burgos and in the area of Baybay, they bomb some bridge that is connected to the town of Maasin so that the soldiers from undermentioned areas will can’t help to the Japanese soldiers in the town of Maasin. As the Japanese soldiers in the town Maasin bit by bit outnumbered and knowing Japanese soldiers don’t have a vocabulary to surrender, some of them go to the Maasin Cathedral, locked and killed themselves. After the bombing, unpleasant scene followed, dead bodies of Japanese soldiers scattered all over the Maasin cathedral.
