Wednesday 12:42 am. Usually, most families would be peacefully sleeping at this time around, perhaps only one or two kids still awake playing videogames or finishing up the homework they left last minute to finish up. Perhaps some families are still out on small gathering with friends or other family members. However, unlike the previous situation that would lead to screams of joy and contagious laughter, the Lee household was different from the rest.

Screams of hatred and despair invaded the walls of the medium size house, sobs echoed through the small rooms recreating the cries of a ghost in lament whose soul could never been put to rest, and the sound of a slap still haunted the room as the sound repeated itself over and over inside the mind of a young man who stumbled backwards until he finally fell back. His eyes wide as the moon and his lips parted just slightly to let out a broken gasp. His soft hand slowly reached to his face, where a red hand mark started forming on his right cheek as his gaze raised from the floor towards the angered eyes of the man who he called a fraud just some seconds ago.

“you-“

“fuck you!” the young man interrupted his progenitor as he stumbled his way back to the wall, holding on the small table at the corner to stand back up as he avoided the furious gaze that was being put on him. “fuck both of you!” he yelled out as he finally places his feet securely on the floor. His mind was a complete mess, but his heart was worst.

“do not speak to us like that!” the women yelled, joining the furious argument she previously was just a spectator from. Her stare was not as furious as the man’s, but they did have more determination to win the argument they started minutes ago. “we are your parent; you have to respect us!”

“Bullshit!” the only son of the Lee’s yelled out as he searched for something on the room that could help cover himself in case his father decided to hurt him any further. “I owe you no respect, after all the stupid things you have done to me! parents are supposed to nurture their kids and love them unconditionally! Not hurt them for something as irrelevant to your lives!”

“You are a sinner! It is our job to save your soul!” his mother yelled this time, reaching out towards Felix and grabbing his wrist forcefully, her nails digging on the skin until it became red and the skin started to break. The young man hissed at the grip, feeling his heart beating faster as he was being dragged towards the front door, where a van with their local church’s symbol was waiting for him. It might not seem like a big deal, but to those who had dare come out to their families in this community like Felix did, the van meant nothing more than a source of nightmares and torture. Before his mother could take another step, Felix harshly pulled his arm back, successfully getting out of the hurtful grip, but not without hurting his now bleeding hand.

“No! I will not go there! You have no right to send me there!” he screamed at his father, before running upstairs as fast as he could. He could hear the footsteps of both his father and mother, trying their best to catch up to him but their age was a clear disadvantage.

“Felix! You have to be saved!”
“I will not have a faggot as a son! Get into that fucking van!”

He could hear his parents yell at him, but he forced his mind to not listen as he kept running through the small hallway, until he reached his room and locked the door immediately as he enters. His heartbeat was beating so fast on his chest it was hurtful, his hand was bleeding so much he tinted his blue jeans with small crimson drops, his face was a mess of dry tears and a bright red mark that took attention away from his freckled face. He placed his back against the door and slid down, his eyes locked on nothing as he finally allowed him self to take a deep breath as the banging on his door became a white sound to him. Even if they tried to find the key for his door, they would never found it because he had it, even if they tried breaking down the door, by the time they successfully destroy a small part, Felix would simply escape from his bedroom door and live as a runaway. Everything was a better option for him than to live one more second in this house of clowns.
