Outside of Lumiere - Jersey City
Jayden twirled her keys restlessly in her hand as she exited the building. "Fuck," she muttered under her breath as the first of many droplets splashed against her forehead. She'd forgotten to take her umbrella this morning and tonight it poured. A part of her wanted to go back inside, perhaps rummage through the lost and found and find an umbrella. Another part of her prickled in mischief, in rebellion. That part of her whispered, "Go out into the rain, feel the drops melt against your skin, revel in the way your blouse sticks close to your chest and your pants become a second skin." Jayden decided on the latter. After all, she had always loved warm rain; it felt so cleansing of summers down South. Perhaps it would wash away the memories that had re-surfaced this aching in her heart.
She stepped out from under the building's overpass, into the rain, and walked slowly towards her car. Suddenly, she stopped. Jayden let her head tilt back and the rain wash over face. She spread her arms out wide and felt her locks against her back. Feeling hot and cold at the same, her clothing became sopping wet -- but that didn't matter to her. She sighed her contentment into the sky. How she loved the feel of the rain sliding down her arms, down her long fingers and onto the ground. She smiled at the tickle between her breasts where rain drops had found their way inside of her blouse. She memorized the smell of the warm rain, a refreshing earthy scent. It was intoxicating. And so, like a child, she twirled slowly into a circle trying to drink in the freshness and rejuvenate her soul.
And that's how Dean saw her.
Jayden hadn't realized it then but he'd been waiting for her again, much like he had weeks before. She'd been too caught up to really notice the sleek black car parked in the corner of the lot, too mesmerized by the rain to here a car door slam shut, and too blinded by droplets so close to tears that she hadn't noticed the large presence looming over her with tussled brown hair, a hello kitty umbrella, and a smile. And even though she knew she should've been afraid at some "stranger" approaching her this way, somehow she knew that he'd be there.
And she surprised him when she threw her arms around his neck, knocking the hello kitty umbrella to the ground, and kissed him. Surprised herself at how effortless it had been for her to do it, how simple, how good it felt to be swept up in his arms, her feet dangling a few inches above his. The rain tasted sweeter on his lips, Jayden thought. And she drank from them like she'd just finished a trek across the Sahara desert. She didn't care that their kissed deepened, threatening to consume them both right there in the parking lot. She embraced the fire slowly burning and roaring to life at the pit of her belly. They were pressed so close in their drenched state that they could've been naked. But far too soon, Dean drew back.
