Prologue

It feels just like a yesterday. My memories with him are still brand-new.

“What do you want?” malamig na tanong sa akin ng kaharap ko ngayon.

I can't read his expression. I can't read what he was thinking. He was staring at me like I am a boring case.

Nakagat ko ang labi ko at napahigpit ang hawak ko sa codal ko.

I called him out of the blue and I don't know what to say.

Tumingin siya sa relo niya at tumikhim.

“You know I'm a busy person Clio.”

Nangangatog ang tuhod ko nang marinig ko muli sakanya ang pangalan ko. It's been a year when the last time I talked to him.

“Sam.”

“What?”

Mariin akong napapikit.

“I'm sorry for what I did before–”

“Before Clio. Before.” He brushed his hair frustratedly. “Stop dwelling in the past Clio. Nangyari na. Just move on.”

He didn't even stare at my eyes. He just turned his back and I left dumbfounded with his words.
