LAST CHAPTER WAS INCREDIBLY SHORT I APOLOGIZE I HOPE THIS IS LONG ENOUGH!
mason's pov
we began to wander around the school checking every door trying to pry it open. nothing seemed to work and after every door we became more and more discouraged. we went inside the cafeteria and began to try and make a plan.
"okay so I don't know about you guys, but I am seriously so hungry." the blonde who's name is Brittany said sighing.
"well if you have anymore or a genius plan, then we won't be eating anything, because the cafeteria is a no." I said looking at the metal bars that closed the cafeteria off to everyone.
"what if we got money from the bookkeepers office?" Colt said looking up.
"that's not a bad idea, but how are we supposed to open the cash register?" Harry asked.
"I know where the keeps the key, I worked in the bookstore last year." colt said standing up and leading us outside the cafeteria.
as a group we walk towards the bookkeepers office and Colt opened the door and we all piled inside. he fumbled around with papers until he found a silver key. Colt walked over to the white cash resister and put the key in. the tray opened and colt grabbed dollar bills. this was going to be the first good things that's happened to us so far. Harry stood by my side majority of the time. I guess he didn't know anyone except for me. Colt brought the money back into the cafeteria and we sat down at the lunch table.
"we each get two dollars, one for a drink and one for something from the vending machine." he said counting out the money.
"I have a idea." Harry said taking off from the cafeteria.
I folded the money Colt gave me and waited for Harry to return. I could see him running back from the hallway. he had a roll of tape in his hands. Harry burst through the cafeteria doors and sat the tape down.
"what's your bright idea?" Brittany asked.
"well, I saw this on YouTube. what you do is put tape on the side of a dollar bill," he said pulling out a piece of tape.
"then you put it into the machine, but still have a hold on the bill, then you rip it out of the machine. your basically getting a free snack." he said finishing taping the bill.
Harry stood up and we followed him to the vending machines. he stuck the dollar in and the dollar sign showed up on the screen. we all cheered as Harry pressed the numbers for a bag of Doritos. it was like we were cavemen that just found fire. we filled our arms with snacks. everyone met back at the lunch table and we laid all of the food we had claimed down. the scene we had made reminded me of the last supper. we grabbed what we wanted then ate.
"best idea ever." Colt said with a mouth full of Doritos.
"seriously harry, I swear to god I was going to riot if we didn't get any food." Brittany said.
we all laughed and I began to look around the table. I was surrounded by people I never thought I would be. I was in the running for prom queen and here I was sitting at a table with my opposites. Colt was the schools best quarterback. Delilah was incredibly shy and hasn't said one word the whole time we've been locked in. Lane was incredibly smart, he was so much more smarter than i would ever be. Brittany was just Brittany, she didn't really belong to any cliché. then there was Harry, I've only seen Harry a few times around school and every time he was alone. I ate my chips and took a sip of the drink I bought. Nobody was saying much of anything. the only sound was the crunch of chips and the wind outside.
