Chapter 10: The Search

The next morning I wake up to yelling downstairs.

"Just let me talk to her. I need to explain what happened" Tristan yelled from downstairs.

"She doesn't wanna see you right now, Tristan, just give her some time." Amber said trying to keep him from waking me up.

"OK. Tell her that I really do love her, and when she is ready to talk I will be at the house." Tristan said as he walked out the door.

After I was sure he was gone I walked downstairs to the kitchen. Amber and Sam were at the table.

"Morning." I say grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting down at the table.

"Morning, you feeling OK?" Sam asked.

"I will be. It's just gonna take time." I answered.

"Emily still sleeping?" Amber asked.

"No. I thought she was down here with you." I answered a little confused.

"Maybe she is with Tyler." Sam said. "Let me find out."

She left to call Bryan.

Amber and I sat in silence for a while.

"Are you sure your OK?" Amber asked breaking the silence.

"No...I love him. I can't see my life without him. I know it's strange, being so in love with someone I just met."

"It's not strange at all. I am like that with Chris."

"But Chris has never kissed his ex in front of you."

"Did he know you were there?"

"No, but Lani did. She saw me right before she kissed him."

"But Tristan didn't?"

"No."

"Don't you think you might have overreacted a bit?"

"Maybe, but the fact that he let himself be in that situation to begin with."

"Bailey, talk to him. I went down there to get Chris when I woke up. When I walked past his door I heard him crying and repeating "I love her. Why won't she talk to me?" I have never heard him cry."

"If he wants to talk so bad he can come over, I can't be at that house right now."

"OK. Thanks Tyler. Don't worry we will find her." Sam said re-entering the room.

"What's up Sammy?" Amber and I say in unison.

"Emily is not there. She is missing."

"OK we need to split up and look for her." Amber said springing up from the chair.

"Bryan and I have a plan." Chris said walking through the front door.

"That's great. What is it?" I ask anxious.

"We are going to split up into groups of two and search the city. She has her phone on her and it's on. The phone company is working on getting us a location." Bryan said walking in with Tristan, Tyler, and Mel in tow.

"Sam and Bryan are team 1. Amber and I are team 2. Team 3 is Tristan and Bailey. And team 4 is Mel and Tyler. Zach is going to stay at the house in case she comes home." Chris said.

"You guys already have an action plan? Dang that was fast." I said

"It's what we do in Jersey. You are with us now and we protect each other." Bryan said.

"OK, when do we get to put this plan in motion I want to find my best friend." Amber said hopping from foot to foot.

She hated this. Sitting here not taking action.

Two hours later, we were mobilized. Everyone had their girds and we knew that when she was found to call the group and let people know.

I wasn't to happy about working with Tristan, but I wanna find my best friend more than I was annoyed with him.

"I know you are mad at me, but please hear me out. I need to explain what happened on the roof and everything that happened after you left." Tristan stated as we got into our uber headed to the north side of the city.

"Alright, start talking. Just know anything you say will not have any affect on how mad I am." I respond.

"OK, well let me start off by saying that I do love you. Even though we just met, you are the only girl that has ever joined me on the roof. Well until last night that is. I was up there looking for you. When Lani found me I was headed back into the house. I wanted nothing more than to find you. I knew how mad Lani made you and I wanted to make sure that you were OK."

"I was very mad. I asked Amber Chris and Mel to tell you I went down to your room to calm down. it smells like you, and that's my absolute favorite smell. I relaxed so much on your bed  that I almost fell asleep. That's why I came looking for you. I wanted you to come to bed with me."

"And that was where I was headed when Lani pushed me back out on the roof. I was talking to her about the reasons why I left her and that she will never get me back. She will never have a chance with me ever again. The only person I see when you walk into a room full of people is you. I don't know what it is but I feel like we are meant to be together. Like every fiber of my being is pulling me to you. When I came to your house this morning, I could feel you listening. There is noth-"

I couldn't listen to him ramble on anymore. I kissed him.

"I love you Tristan. It only hurt so bad because I thought you felt the same way about me."

"I do love you Bailey. I always will. Nothing and no one will ever change that."

We had just arrived at our location when my phone rang.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Bailey, I found her. She was beaten up pretty badly, but Tyler is with her headed to the hospital." Mel said on the other end of the phone. "I am headed back to the house."

"Thanks Momma Mel." I said as I hung up the phone.

"She has been found. Everyone is either going back to the your house or the hospital." I tell Tristan

"So where are we going?" He asked me confused.

"Back to my house. I wanna show you a part of my life that not many people know about. The only one in this immediate area that knows about it is Amber."

"OK. Confused, but OK."
