"Thanks for the help you rendered yesterday, Travis. I'm immensely grateful." Ms Dora said trying to sit up.
Travis ran to the bed to assist her to sit. "Don't mention it." He said. "I've spoken to the doctor he said you will be discharged today. Hope you are perfectly fine?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Ms Dora replied. "I'm so so sorry for ruining your uncle's party. I don't even know how I will face him at work on Monday."
"Don't worry about that, I will talk to my dad. I believe he will understand. You should know that he is not difficult to deal with." Cheryl said boldly.
"So, Belinda had the guts to runaway after pushing my mom. I will make life hot for her." Sylvia who had been quiet since they entered her mother's ward finally spoke up.
"Sylvia, she did not push me intentionally and you know that. Please, don't even think of fighting with her or doing something stupid." Ms Dora pleaded.
"I don't care if she did it intentionally or not. I will ensure she is dealt with accordingly. It seems i left my phone in the car, I need to go to the car park to get it." Sylvia said walking towards the door.
Travis stood up from the bed, where he sat with Ms Dora and walked close to Sylvia. "Let's go together." He said.
On their way to the car park, Sylvia caught a glimpse of something in the emergency ward and froze for some seconds then she blinked her eyes rapidly to ensure she was not hallucinating.
"Sylvia, are you ok?" Travis asked concerned.
"I'm ok." Sylvia replied walking hurriedly.
When they got to the car park, Sylvia looked around then drew Travis closer to herself and said, "we need to call the police, I just saw the person that raped me in the emergency ward."
"Huh! Are you sure?" Travis asked with his eyes wide open in disbelief.
"I'm ninety-nine percent sure." Sylvia replied. "I can vividly remember that I saw a scar that has the shape of a triangle on the wrist of the person that raped me, and that same scar was on the wrist of the person I saw in the emergency ward."
"But that is not enough proof that he is the person that raped you." Travis argued.
"I know, but I have a hunch that he is the person that raped me." Sylvia said with certainty. "The scar on his wrist makes him a prime suspect. We have to act fast."
"Ok! I will call the police right away." Travis said bringing his phone out of his pocket.
After calling the police, Sylvia and Travis waited patiently in the car park for them to arrive.
When the police arrived, they went with Sylvia and Travis to the emergency ward to apprehend the alleged rapist. While they were heading to the emergency ward, Cheryl called to tell them Ms Dora had been discharged from the hospital, and Travis told her to come to the emergency ward with Ms Dora to meet them. The alleged rapist was arrested and held for questioning.
As the police officers were leading him out of the emergency ward, Ms Dora and Cheryl entered the ward.
"You!" Ms Dora exclaimed in a loud and high voice, pointing at the alleged rapist.
"Mom, do you know him?" Sylvia asked alarmed by her mother's sudden outburst.
"Yes, I do. He was the person that shot me a day before the day you were to go for the national competition." Ms Dora replied and shuddered involuntarily at the thought of how he had shot her.
"We will ensure he doesn't go Scot free for the crimes he has committed." One of the police officers assured Ms Dora and her daughter.
"You will have to file a law suit against him, Sylvia. I will gladly be your lawyer. I've never lost a case." Travis said proudly.
"You are so full of yourself, Travis. For justice to prevail, we need to gather as much evidence as possible. I'm tired let's go home and rest." Sylvia said rubbing her temples.
