To a brighter future

Prologue

Two years have passed since the 4th great Shinobi war. Uzumaki Naruto, the "savior of Shinobi world", was trying to consolidate peace between all villages and his friends help him in what they could: capturing renegade Shinobi after experimenting a taste of a world free of pain, completing missions between hidden villages and helping Konoha and its citizens. Naruto also had the opportunity to meet love. One year after the war, Naruto finally reciprocated Hinata feelings and they were in a relationship. Life couldn't be better; but it all will take a single night.

Opposed to what many people think, Naruto didn't change everyone around him. As the preface of a novel, hatred is a cycle that continues every generation; and, even before the 4th great Ninja war, hatred was arising within his own village; and it was all because of the influence of one man: Danzō, at least indirectly. Danzō Shimura always prioritized the sake of "peace" and "stability" based on power and influence, no matter the actions or how despicable they may be; but some followed his ideals, and, after his assassination, they wanted revenge.

The current Hokage, Hatake Kakashi, was aware of the situation and has been tracking down former Foundation members to stop any attacks on Uchiha Sasuke, Danzō's assassin; or Uzumaki Naruto, the one who set Sasuke free and protected him from his sentence. Still, this was a classified secret between a close circle of people.

"It's unbelievable that we can't succeed after all this time" - Said Kakashi calmly to three figures in the room

"Many of them were trained to cover their tracks, and the fact that many ANBU aren't registered doesn't help, Kakashi-Sama" – Said Shizune, after sighing

"Drop the -Sama part" – as Kakashi turned to the other person in front of his desk – "Although it would be better if you stay and handle this issue, you seem to get your way with this kind of people"

"I'm keeping close tabs on the village and I know that they will attack or try to manipulate people against Naruto, since he was always helping me" – replied Sasuke

"I don't know what they are planning, if doing anything at all; I'm very curious" - Sai intervened, with a confused look in his face

"We must not underestimate them; the foundation members never rest. Incidents like the ones of few months ago can't happen again. ANBU have the order to capture or, if necessary, kill, anyone that seems suspicious towards Naruto, and he is very powerful too; after all, in the last mission, he managed to stop some of them but we never could identify who they were" - stated Kakashi

"Coming after Naruto is stupid for them, he can easily defeat them" - replied Sai, recognizing the strength and power of his friend

"Naruto always thinks those are some of the renegade Shinobi, he still hasn't figured out they are the foundation ANBU. Nevertheless, he is careful or at least that's what I want to believe" - replied Sasuke

"Anyway, we must keep watching and try protecting the peace thanks to him. He sure has come a long way" - said an eye-smiling Kakashi - "Sasuke, are you going to stay in the village for now?"

"Unfortunately, no, I still have to keep looking. There are a lot of dimensions that I need to explore and deal with anything close to Kaguya"

"That's unfortunate, I am sure Naruto and Sakura would love to see you once in a while" - replied Kakashi - "Well, this is all for now, you can go now"

After Sasuke and Sai left, only Kakashi and Shizune stayed in the office trying to defeat the monster of paperwork. That same night, in a secluded area of the village, the foundation members were in a meeting to discuss the next course of action.

"Everything has failed until now"

"He has improved, and it is unbeatable, the last mission ended with 4 dead. It's almost impossible to locate Uchiha Sasuke too"

"For Uzumaki, instead of fighting him and killing him, we can break his will and drive him to despair; also showing people that he will be dangerous to the village because of its power and that he will have to be killed or sealed. As part of his life, I don't think he will take yet another failure, and if we succeed, we can seal him or use him against the Uchiha"

Everyone paid close attention to the man with an ANBU tiger mask who appeared to be their leader.

"How do we do that, Tsuda-Sama?" – said one of the other foundation members

"If anything, we kill those closest to him"

"All people close to him are powerful Konoha-Nin, we will be driven into a corner" – stated another foundation member.

"But there is one that has settled down; although powerful, she won't handle us alone"

Everyone then understood, if they were to break Naruto's will, it wouldn't be that hard of a task.

"That can be the option we want; he can be easily manipulated if that happens. I personally will take care of the security. Anyway, this session is over, we will report when an opportunity arises"
