Warning: the following chapter contains brief mentions of self-harm, depression, physical/verbal abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Nothing too graphic or detailed, but do please proceed with an air of caution

Yuri
o Yuri has a mother and father that she is very close to, but they had to move out of town for work. Because they had to move so late into Yuri's educational career (she was a sophomore at the time), they decided it wouldn't be fair to force her to start over where she wasn't comfortable or familiar.
o Yuri takes after her mother in looks and her father in mannerisms.
o Her parents are very loving and supportive of Yuri, but they don't know about her cutting. They never did, but they're the kind of people that would do everything they possibly could to help if they did.
o Her parents are very successful business owners, so the entire family is loaded.
o Yuri is an only child, but she's extremely close to her 22-year-old cousin, a police officer named Kaitlyn, and regards her as an older sister.
o Yuri's parents and cousin like to call her Blueberry due to her purple eyes/hair. She thinks the nickname is ridiculous and will verbally object to it, but she secretly loves it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sayori
o Sayori's mother and father are amicably divorced; they decided that they didn't make a good married pair but remained great friends. They live in the same town, so no matter who Sayori goes to see, she'll be able to stay at school.
o Both parents are very kind and loving towards one another and are very doting for their kids.
o Both of them are utter goofballs, which is where Sayori had gotten it from.
o Sayori gets her looks and personality from her father.
o Sayori's mother is the one who lives next to MC, and she views him like a son.
o Sayori has an older sister in college and a younger sister in middle school. She also has two toddler stepbrothers on her father's side.
o The entire family is obsessed with food.
o No one knows about Sayori's depression, but there is a family history of depression on her mother's side.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Natsuki
o Natsuki lives with her father; her mother died in a ferry accident when she was about 10 years old, and the toll that it took on her and her father was great.
o Her father used to be kind, funny, loving, and affectionate; he loved his daughter more than anything and went out of his way to show her every chance he could. He was a sweetheart, he was a jokester, he loved video games, and he was as soft and cuddly as a teddy bear. Nowadays, he is cold, bitter, angry, violent, and abusive. He is unemployed, and whatever money he does get usually goes towards hard drugs and alcohol, so Natsuki is often left without food. His addictions leave him constantly angry, and he verbally and physically takes it out on his daughter. Natsuki prays every day that one day, he'll become the father she once knew; in the meantime, she does everything she can to satisfy him.
o In addition to being physically and verbally abusive, he is also sexually abusive and has raped Natsuki on several occasions (as implied in Cheering Her Up)
o Natsuki takes after her mother in looks and her father (prior to his wife's death) in personality, though it's often masked by the tsundere tendencies she uses as a defense mechanism. Her true personality only comes out when she's alone with Yuri or occasionally with MC.
o Natsuki is an only child, but she has formed a sibling-like bond with MC. He took interest in the things she likes without hesitation or judgement which allowed the two to spend time together and bond.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monika
o Monika lives with her two mothers: her (bisexual) biological mother and her wife. Her father died in a car accident when she was an infant.
o Her mothers are rich and successful, and they want that for Monika as well. They push her to do her best in everything that she does and always encourage and support her.
o Her mothers are embarrassing; they love making fun of Monika and flustering her in front of company. Monika will often complain, but it's all in good fun for them all.
o Monika does not have any siblings, but she has a lot of cousins, all of whom she is very close to.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MC (real name = Michael)
o MC has a mother and father but doesn't really have a connection with them because they're always gone for work. He had babysitters and tutors that did the best they could for him, but he still feels lonely and neglected by them. Now that he's old enough to not need babysitters, his parents always make sure he has enough money to get by.
o MC lives alone; whenever his parents are in the house, it's never for longer than a week, and then they will be gone for the next several months.
o MC takes after his father in both looks and personality.
o MC has a grandmother that lives in a nearby town; they're very close, and she will often stop by over the weekend just to spend time with him.
o MC doesn't have any siblings, but he views Natsuki as his little sister.
