Derek sighed as he sat down in the desk chair. "I think it's time to tell you everything. From the beginning." I looked at him confused. "You were born May 19, 1994 as Kaelin Iris Hale. Your parents are Jasmine Shea and Peter Hale. You lived a happy, great life with your family until the hunters found us. The hunters found out where we were staying and they set the house on fire with everyone else including you."

"I'm confused." I said, "I'm human, so why would they set the house on fire knowing that I was inside?"

"They broke the code." Derek informed me, "Everyone who died in that fire, they didn't deserve what happened to them."

"Derek." I said, and he looked at me.

"What?" Derek asked, his voice cracking.

"I don't want to sound selfish or anything, you know." I said, "But is there anyway that I could remember what happened? Is there a way that I could remember my life before the fire?"

"You're not selfish to want to remember your life. You're not selfish to want to remember who you are." Derek said softly, "I understand how this can be overwhelming."

He had just told me that my whole family was dead. That my whole biological family died because of the hunters. This is more than overwhelming. My father. Derek had said that he's in the hospital.

"My father." I said, "He's in the hospital because of what happened?"

"Kaitlin there's more to this story that you don't know." Derek sighed.

"Then tell me." I said, "I want to know what happened."

"Kaitlin, I saw you." Derek said. That surprised me.

"What are you talking about? You saw me where?" I asked confused.

"I saw you by the ambulance." Derek said, "I could of gone back for you, but I didn't." Derek looked down to the ground in shame.

I pulled him into a hug.

"It wasn't your fault Derek. You saw the house explode in flames... You were shocked and you needed to leave." I said, "You're here now, and we aren't going to leave each other." I released Derek out of the hug and turned to him, ready to say something else. "Will I ever remember what my life was like?"

"I'm sorry." Derek said, "I don't know."

I looked down to the ground. I would never remember what my life was like before. I would never remember my family. I would have to trust Derek. I would have to believe his word. I knew that Stiles didn't trust him, and honestly I respected how Stiles felt about Derek. Stiles doesn't trust people easily, which is kind of funny because I do. I trust people easily, and I always try to see the good in them. Derek, he's just broken. He's not a monster, he never was. Derek's my cousin, and he's broken. I'll do anything I can to help him. Anything.

"Oh my god! We're gonna die!" Stiles exclaimed, terrified. I suddenly took a sharp turn in Derek's camaro. Let's just say that I shouldn't have swore to myself, and that Stiles is exaggerating. Stiles, Scott, and I came out to help Derek get away from the hunters. I was driving Derek's camaro because I was the only one that he entirely trusted, and just let me say... He loves his car.

"We're not going to die!" I snapped before I took another sharp turn.

"Why did we even agree to this?" Stiles added.

"Because I asked you to, and I can be very convincing!" I said smiling sweetly, before I turned my face back to a serious expression. "Now buckle up Stiles! I'm about to go all Fast and Furious over here!" I turned the car again and shifted the gears as quickly as I could. Derek's life depended on it. I looked in the mirror and saw that a car was still chasing us. "Faster?"
