Screams and the burning scent of rubber flooded my senses with a force of a thousand tsunamis. My breathing came out rapid and harsh, my heart struggling to cope with the panic sinking in. A lump began forming in my throat and the tears began falling like waterfalls down my cheeks. The body of the air stuartess lied at my feet, blood oozing from her weeping head, a brown suitcase, the culprit, lying next to her. Her face forever stuck in a silent scream of sorrow.

I curled in on myself, desperately trying to escape the reality layed out on display in front in me. In my eyes, I was living a nightmare as we plummeted in a downwards spiral, hurtling towards our inevitable doom.

A trembling hand grasped my own and I looked to my left to find one of my best friends, Amelia. We locked eyes and shuffled closer to each other to savour the last moments we might ever see each other.

The whole plane was in chaos, order seemingly lost the moment we began our firey descent. It seemed as if we were stuck in an endless loop of suffering, at least that's what I thought.

Knocking the air out of me, we landed. The doors flying off upon impact and water instantly flooding in.

Mr Gatsby began yelling at us to begin swimming or face the fate of drowning, but we all seemed frozen in fear. No one knew what awaited us in the unknown waters and no one wanted to find out.

As if breaking from a trance, a figure began rushing towards an exit, I'm not sure who it was, but it doesn't matter. A few moments after jumping into the water there was a blood curdling scream. I watched as the head of the person bobbed above the water before disappearing into the glistening depths. Only they never returned. The only indicator that they even existed was the scrap of fabric floating in bloody water. A shark fin began circling the plane, awaiting its next meal. They were the first to die but they certainly weren't going to be the last.

I continued staring at the spot where the person was last seen, I couldn't tear my eyes from the bloody scene. There was no way to survive, was there? We were all going to die, become fish food for the preying sharks, weren't we?

Breaking me from my tumultuous thoughts, a hand began shaking my shoulder. I turned around to find enchanting blue eyes staring back at me. Jason. I hated him. There was honestly nothing wrong with the guy, he was practically perfect. His only flaw was that he has one of the mightiest bitches of all time, Katie, as a younger sister. It was hard to picture them as siblings though. The only thing they shared were their sky blue eyes. With everything else they were complete opposites. Grades, looks, personalites. One was a massive teddy bear with ashy blonde locks and the other was a bleach blonde Barbie who was obsessed with looks and parties.

"We found an inflatable raft, turns out someone actually listened to the flight attendant at the start," a raspy voice said interrupting my staring contest with Jason. Elijah nodded towards someone, his black, messy hair moving to reveal his stunning eyes, one a warm brown, the other an icy blue.

I sighed in relief as I realized my other best friend, Killian, might have just saved us all, or at least a few.

"The only problem is the shark, any ideas?" Elijah continued.

I shook my head, the shark was going to be a serious problem.

I looked down to realise water was already way past my ankle and was filling more rapidly than earlier. We really had to come up with a solution, and fast.

"We could just go, instead of being absolute pussies, ya know," a monotone voice said breaking the silence I didn't know had befallen the plane.

I looked over at the voice, to find Alex comfortably sat in the bright yellow raft, loudly smacking gum and casually scrolling through Insta.

"I suppose she's right," someone said, "we'll just die anyway if we wait so why not, and anyways, I saw land not too far in the distance," Milly said easing the tension that hung in air and pointing to her left.

So that led up to now, carefully rowing an inflatable raft in shark infested waters to an island we knew nothing about. We found another raft and managed to cram everyone onto them. I was on one with: Amelia, Killian, Jason, Katie, Alex, Milly, Elijah and Mr Gatsby.

Everything was going fine, until screams erupted from the second boat. They were slightly behind us and to our right. I watched as the raft was torn to pieces and the people on board fell victim to the sharks waiting beneath the waves. Screams were quickly snuffed out and the bodies slowly disappeared.

Panic stricken we quickened our pace, the finish line creeping closer and closer. Mr Gatsby's fast ass was screaming at us to go faster. Our makeshift oars glided through the water and our arms ached from the intense work.

The sweet promise of safety was in our grasp, when it was suddenly ripped from us. Salty water invaded my mouth and nose, burning my throat. Unsure on what to do I tried swimming to what I believed was up, but no matter what, I didn't seem to get any closer to reaching the surface.

Then my worst fear began heading towards me. The shark moved with absolute deadly elegance through the water. I closed my eyes, believing death was creeping closer, but it just swam straight past me. I turned round and witnessed my teacher be torn limb from limb. The water clouded with his blood.

Tearing me from the horrendous scene, an arm dragged me to the surface, pulling me to shallower waters.

Waves crashed against my weak and tired body as we reached the shore. All of us coughing up water and collapsing onto the warm sand. We were alive.
