The last time someone knocked on my door was three weeks ago and I couldn't remember the last time before that. Three weeks ago felt like years and I didn't remember feeling this scared. Maybe because last time it was in the morning or maybe it was because I was dressed respectfully, but it was probably because I knew they would eventually come and question me. I look down at my pajamas and flinched when they knocked again.

It was silent except for the beating of my heart which I'm sure the person on the other side of my door could hear. I held my wand closed a made my way closer to the door. I let out a shaky breath and gently wrapped my hand around the handle. I held my breath as the door creaked open to reveal the person on the other side.

"You found me." I let out the breath I was holding in as the person came in and I quickly shut the door behind them. My heart rate only quickened as we stared at each other and everything I wanted to say to him was forgotten.

I slowly stepped closer to him, longing to feel his embrace, I reached a hand out to touch his arm. I went to say something as I felt his bone, but he reached out and wrapped his arms around me. It felt foreign like it was something I was used to, but not the same thing.

"Of course I did." He finally muttered as he leaned back to look at my face.

"You were gone for so long." My voice started as a whisper but I soon became chocked up.

"I know." His voice cracked and as I went back to hug him I could feel his shoulders shaking as well.

"I tried, I tried so hard to fight for you. Every day I was at the Ministry begging them to do something, I told them it wasn't fair, but they didn't listen. I knew you were innocent, I never doubted for a second." I was trembling in his arms and I felt selfish as I thought about how he should be the whimpering mess.

"I know, it's okay. I do not doubt that you fought for me." He shushed me as his hand found its way to the top of my head. He pulled me in closer and kissed my forehead, running his hands through my hair.

"Then I saw you were set free, but they came and questioned me and they have been watching me ever since. It's not safe for you here." There was no denying the obvious truth.

"Let's not worry about that now." He looked down at me with a sad smile and my quivering lips betrayed my look of reassurance.

I moved my hand up to touch his cheek and his smile showed how much older he looked. It didn't reach his eyes and they were unfamiliarly dull.

"You must be starving."

"No, no, no." As I went to escape his embrace he held on tighter and wouldn't let go.
"You look sick." I pleaded and his grip softened so I could walk with him to the kitchen.

I made him sit down at my dining table as I got out the leftovers I had from tonight and heated it. I placed in front of him and sat next to him, instantly grabbing the hand resting on his thigh. I couldn't take my eyes off him; I wanted to memorize him, I wanted him to be the only thing in mind.

As he chewed his food he looked over at me and smiled, taking his hand away from mine to touch my hair.

"You cut it." The last time Sirius had seen me my thick curly hair was almost at my waist, now it just reached my shoulders.

"I did." He started twisting the end of a strand of my hair and I wasn't sure why I was suddenly getting all emotional again. "I needed a change." I continued knowing how much Sirius loved my long hair.

"It suits you." He smiled again before dropping his hand to hold mine once more and continue eating.

Once he finished eating I let him have a shower and he changed into some of his old clothes which I had kept. I was waiting in bed for him and I noticed how his smile was slowly getting brighter. He laid down next to me and I put my head on his chest. I could feel his heartbeat and I couldn't help but think about how our life could have been.
