Cloudy water surrounds me making everything harder to describe my location. I tried to come up, but the more I pushed against this unknown force the more it would push me down. My heart raced with the limited amount of oxygen with it. I couldn't hold on any longer. I jumped, falling onto my floor seeing that I'm back into my room. I catch my breath dripping in sweat seeming it was only just a dream. I decided to go to the kitchen for some water to calm my nerves. As I entered the kitchen I froze at the sight before me seeing a girl staring at the pictures on the wall. She was drenched from head to toe, white dress ruined with mud stains and rips only to have a blank expression. She seems to not notice me as I slowly went for the phone, but by doing so I looked back to find her looking at me with the saddest expression on her face, stopping me in my tracks. She didn't seem like an intruder, more like she was more scared than threatening to me.
"Excuse me, but I think you have the wrong house." I tried to see if she would say something, maybe realizing it was a mistake of going into the wrong house, or maybe someone was after her she chose to hide in this one. She slowly started to walk to me looking as if she was about to cry "Help me." reaching to the phone about to dial the number turning back to her direction, but she was gone. I hung up the phone to look through the house seeing if she had just gone to a different room, but she wasn't in any of the rooms. I looked for signs of her leaving the house, but there wasn't a trail of water or an open front door. She was just gone. Where did she go?
Day after day and night after night the girl would appear and disappear sometimes in my room or in different parts of my house repeating herself "Help me". I just couldn't understand what was going on. First thing I thought to do was tell my parents but they were out of town and probably only use it as material for their new novel. I thought to tell Elizabeth the situation but that would just put me back to being Ghostboy again. I finally decided to just ignore it until this whole thing goes away, but I can't ignore it. Why I'm I so worried about this anyway it not my problem, but at the same time it is my problem she keeps coming to my house.
"You think too much, your head might grow. What's wrong?" I looked up seeing Elizabeth sitting down in front of me with her chicken sandwich and a bitten apple.
" Hey Eliz, nothings wrong just thinking about some things." she gave me a look trying to read my mind.
"Sure there's nothing wrong, your just sitting here staring at people like a creep." I rolled my eyes seeing that I can't get past this one." Eliz, do you believe in ghosts?" waiting for her response she just stop for a quick second she tenses up " Oh no are they around us now. See if the spirit of Santa clause has seen me steal these French fries." Taking my fries from my tray making it evident that she was just messing with me. " I knew you wouldn't take me serious, and give me back my fries." She calms down a bit. "Wait, wait. Please. I'm sorry Andy I promise I'll take you serious this time." I took a quick breathe relaxing a little " Do you think ghosts are real?" she took a moment to think about what to say
" I am going to be honest not really no. Why?" I look around than back at her " I think my house might be haunted." to which she didn't make a joke this time. " Is it a girl?" she said with a flat tone in her voice. " Ye-yeah how did you know?" she tries to look around the cafeteria and leans in towards me." A couple of years a family lived in that house before you did. They had a daughter that attended this school. People said that she would always get bullied just because she's from a well off family or something like that. She started to replace her pretty bright colored clothes with dark hoodies and jeans.
She started to fail her classes until one day she just stopped coming to school altogether. Her parents began to worry and went out to look for her. It took months before..." I looked at her waiting for her to finish the sentence, to which she seem not wanting to say it. " ... they had found her body. She had drowned herself in the nearby lake behind her family's home.. The cops ruled it as a suicide to which her parents refused to believe. They grieved for days and they just couldn't take it no more. They moved out of town to the city. " I looked a Eliz for a minute thinking about the story, " Wait so that's it. Did she leave a letter or something for her parents to understand why?" she just shook her head leaning back in the chair, but for some reason something seemed to be off.
