Silence.
Silence wasn't something Bertha was used to.
Four days without as much as a "hey" from Remilia.
Just silence.
Bertha let out a sigh and checked her phone again. Not a single message from the blonde. Not that the silence of her phone wasn't welcome, it was just...
...strange.
She cocked an eyebrow. Should she go over and check on Remilia? Maybe she got her phone taken away. But even then she would have said something.
The brunette sighed again in confusion and grabbed her bag, shoving in a water bottle and her phone. With a halfhearted "i'm going out for a bit" and a wave of her hand, Bertha left her apartment.

With a wave of his hand and a halfhearted "we're back", Maximilian opened the door to his apartment. The building itself was quite strange- a black skyscraper reaching high into the purple sky. What confused Remilia was how quickly the world changed. She was first kicked out of a castle... Into an open field... And suddenly she was in an urban area. It resembled her Boston home just a bit, but nobody rooted for sports teams and food carts were nonexistent. Nobody screamed, nobody honked the horn of their car on the abnormally empty road.
Everything was so elegant.
The glass doors of the elevator, the cursive gold writing on the door of the apartment,
And the scream of the girl on the other side of the door to room 6-34.
"STOP SCARING ME LIKE THAT! MAX! TELL CAIN TO STOP THAT!!" A girl in a black outfit with green trim squeaked out as she attempted to hide under her long, white hair.
A boy with black eyes and a light blue tie smirked. Ezekiel rolled his eyes.
"Cain, leave Amaya alone."
"Cain? I'm Abel."
"I'm Cain." an identical boy said behind Remilia, making her jump. He smirked an identical smirk.
"No, you're Abel. Your hair is to the right. Cain's is to the left."
It was true, the boys were truly identical. Right down to their hair- blonde with a shaved side. Abel had the left side of his hair shaved off while Cain had the right.
Maximilian moved forward and Ezekiel began to shoo Remilia forward.
Cain grinned. "Who's the blonde?"
"A new girl." Ezekiel replied. "Her name's Remilia. She's still a bit shaken."
"Well the only cure for jitters is a little drink." Abel said, walking over to a low cabinet and pulling out a bottle of red wine. Ezekiel sighed.
"Abel! What did i say about stealing Purpura's wine??"
"Pff, Queenie won't notice. She's got loads of it in her cellars." Abel popped off the cork and started to pour a few glasses with the maroon substance. He held one out in front of Remilia and she stared at it hesitantly.
"Drink up, girlie." He said, motioning it forward. She sighed and took the glass.
Across the room, Cain drank all his wine in one gulp. The twins laughed and poured themselves more. Remilia looked down at her glass and sidestepped toward one of the potted plants on the other side of the open-concept room.
And promptly spilled her drink into the dirt.
She flumped down on a couch and stared up at the ceiling. A girl with long white hair sat down neatly beside her. She tucked her knees under her and smoothed out a tuft of her locks. Remilia looked over. The girl smiled lightly.
"Whats your name?" She asked sweetly.
"Remilia. You?"
"Amaya." She said, trying to follow Remilia's line of vision. "What are you looking at?"
"Memories." The blonde said, closing her eyes.
"You can see memories?"
"I'm just zoning out." Remilia said, cracking open an eye and looking at Amaya. The girl nodded once and stared up at the ceiling as well.
"Zoning..." Amaya said quietly.
"Mm." Was Remilia's only reply.
All was quiet for a moment.
"Remilia?"
"Mm?"
"Do you really think you can save us?"
Remilia blinked open her eyes and looked at Amaya. Bright green met with bright green.
"Excuse me?"
"I had a vision. Of the future..." Amaya said, balling up her fists on her folded legs. "I can't see too far, but..."
Remilia blinked in confusion.
"I'm going to save you?"
"From the Queen. Purpura Silver."
"I... Thought she was fine..."
Amaya put on a worried smile and looked down at her legs, nervously balling and unballing her hands into fists. A glass was put out in front of her by a half-drunk Abel.
"Calm.. Down there." He said.
"STOP TRYING TO GIVE ME WINE!" Amaya screamed, quite contrary to her previous self. She flipped the glass and it shattered onto the floor and crimson spilled over the black tile floor.
Amaya looked down at the scene.
All was quiet for a moment.
Amaya turned and walked down a narrow corridor to her room and gently closed the door.
Maximilian shook his head. "I'll never understand that girl." He said before setting down his glass in the sink and walking off. Ezekiel joined him for a second before stopping and turning back toward Remilia.
"Oh! Amaya has another bed in her room. You can stay there." He said. "I'd... Wait for her to cool down, though."
Remilia nodded.
Cain and Abel walked back to the kitchen, presumably to finish off the wine bottle. Remilia stared at the stain on the floor.
Remilia got down on her hands and knees and began to clean up the forgotten mess.
