Best Friends

        Casey saw her best friend Jenna pull up in her red grand am. Jenna was a single mother as well. She had two boys; Angelo was 4 and Ricky was 2. Jenna had long red hair, which she dyed. You could tell she had natural black hair. She loved tattoos, so she had a giant red rose on her back that led to her shoulder. Both her boys had sandy, brown hair. Jenna thought they were little copies of their father. She hoped they wouldn’t turn out like him though. Jenna wasted 6 years of her life with him. He was controlling and abusive, she left him when Ricky was one. Jenna knew that the only good things that came out of her relationship with her ex was her sons.

        Jenna was running late as always. She got out of her car and gave Casey a wave. Casey smiled and returned the gesture. Jenna opened the backseat door and Angelo came sprinting out.

        “Angelo!” Jenna yelled after her little boy. He stopped and turned around. He threw up his hands. “Don’t toss your hands at me little boy! Get your butt back here.”

        “Momma, we are late!” Angelo crossed his arms.

        “What else is new?! Now come on and help me with your brother.” Jenna crossed her arms and tapped her foot.

        “Aye, aye, aye!” Angelou huffed as he walked back over to the car. Jenna just rolled her eyes and smiled. She took Ricky out of his seat and set him on the ground.

        “Come on little boogey!” Angelo said, taking Ricky’s hand and rushing to the door. Jenna rushed to keep up with them.

        “Hi, Aunty Casey!” Angelo said as he walked in.

        “Hi, sweetheart.” Casey said with a smile.

         “Hey, girl!” Jenna said walking in.

        “What’s up?” Casey said with a tired look.

        The door to the classroom opened and Kenzie walked in.

        “Where have you been?!” Kenzie yelled putting her hands on her hips.

        “My mom woke up late, woman!” Angelo explained.

        “Don’t you woman me! Get your butt in this classroom this instant.” Kenzie pointed her finger down at the ground in a demanding manner. Kenzie and Angelo were preschool boyfriend and girlfriend. Kenzie went back inside.

        “Women!” Angelo gestured toward Kenzie and rolled his eyes. He went inside.

        Casey and Jenna burst out laughing. Ricky started to cry all of a sudden.

        “Bubby! I want to go with Bubby!” Ricky cried. He ran to the door and started knocking.

        “Ricky! Baby, it’s okay. You’ll get to see bubby when he gets out of school.” Jenna picked up Ricky and rocked him.

        “I want to see him now. I wanna go to school too!” Ricky pouted.

        “Ricky, if you go to school you won’t get to hang out with me and your mommy.” Casey said.

        “I won’t?!” Ricky stopped his crying.

         “Nope. No mommy’s allowed.” Jenna said with pouty lips.

        “Then I’m never going to school!” Ricky said with a smile.

        “Yay!” Jenna and Casey said, laughing.
