The rain pounded on the pavement as you knocked on the door of the old, 'abandoned' pizzeria, your tears mixing with the rainwater streaming down your soaking wet form. "God, please open this door Foxy. I need you right now.." you mumbled to yourself. You knew it was 3:21 in the morning but it's not like he slept or anything. The events that had brought you here was a whirlwind in your mind, but you couldn't forget about the last thing you heard before running from your so-called 'home'.

You shook your head, trying to erase the painful memory. Suddenly, the rusty door swung open with a loud creak to reveal an animatronic fox standing in the doorway. A choked sob escaped your lips as you threw yourself into his arms, almost knocking the gigantic robot over. "Woah! Easy now, ladsie I-" Foxy stopped short when he realized you were crying, your whole body shaking from the force of your sobs. "Oh! H-hey, what's goin' on? Are ya alright?" His face contorted in concern and his hand instinctively tangled in your hair to comfort you. You shook your head slightly, still buried in your boyfriend's chest. He scanned you for any injuries, thankfully seeing none. He leaned forward to shut the door then turned his attention back to you. Foxy pulled away so that your face wasn't pressed into his chest anymore.

"What happened?" He asked, his voice softening to a whisper. His metallic hand pushed a strand of hair behind your ear, making you swipe at your tears. Your mouth opened to speak but made no sound other than a choked cry. Foxy flattened his ears against his head in worry, You had never acted like this before. After a long moment of tense silence, you turned your gaze to him. "My..my dad." Foxys worry almost instantly turned to anger at the mere mention of your father, seeing as you and he had a rocky past.

His voice came as a low growl. "The fuck did he do now?" You took a half-step back, wrapping your arms around yourself in an attempt to calm down. "I...I got outed. He wasn't too..pleased." you shakily explained. Tears welled in your eyes, threatening to spill over. Your father had always been a rather..traditional..man. So when you realized that you were non-binary, you tried to keep it a secret. Which hadn't gone exactly as you'd wanted. You and one of your 'friends' had gotten into an argument about something petty. They decided to retaliate by outing you to your family.

Foxy softened his expression, a mix of emotions rising within him. "H-he told me..he didn't want a t-tranny in his house." You continued, barely able to keep your composure. He moved closer to you, taking your hand in his own. You shivered at his warm touch, still cold from running here in the rain. "Yer freezing. Lets..get ya warmed up," you mumbled a weak agreement and followed him back to his cove, the flimsy air mattress sinking in as you sat down on it. Foxy hastily wrapped a blanket around you, closing the curtain with his hook simultaneously. "Is that good?"

You nodded and turned your gaze to Foxy, who was moving to sit down beside you. A silence fell between you two with the occasional sniffle on your end. "Hey um..thanks for all this. I just didn't know where else to go." You finally said. His yellow orbs locked onto your (E/C) ones, filled with understanding. "Aye, of course, anytime. I'm sure this is hard for you." His arms snaked around your waist, pulling you into his grasp, nuzzling his head into the crook of your neck. With a sigh you melted into his arms, closing your eyes, beginning to feel at ease. "I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Maybe Dad is right about me."

Foxy stiffened at your last sentence, turning you around to look him in the eyes. "Excuse me? Ya can't be serious." He scanned your face, seemingly upset. You averted your eyes, feeling oddly embarrassed. "I just.." You tried to figure out how to explain. "Maybe this whole gender thing just is me subconsciously begging for attention." You shifted your weight in his arms, feeling your cheeks burn. Foxys' metallic hand reached up to your face, gently turning you to look him in the eyes.

"Okay, first off, there's no fuckin' way you're begging for attention." He said with a slight chuckle. "It's like pullin' teeth to even get ya to hang out with the gang!" You gave a weak laugh. You knew he was right, but it was difficult to accept it. You didn't know why, but you just didn't want to admit that you were genuinely who you said you were. Foxy took notice of your silence and gave a small sigh. "Listen (y/n), I'm not trying to upset you. I know how difficult this must be." He set a paw on your knee, gazing into your eyes with kindness. "I just... You're a good person (y/n). A really good person. Don't let that bastard make you think otherwise." All you could do to not start crying again was nod. You let him hold you again, not speaking for the rest of the night. Eventually, you fell asleep in his arms, finding the peace you so desperately sought. You finally felt at peace with a realization. Home wasn't a place. It was a feeling. And this was your home.
